Time on computer

I notice the clock in my car was about 10 mins off so I reset it to the right time - a week later it's off again by 10 mins or so. Has anybody else experienced this?

Haven't noticed anything? Might be an issue with your battery?

Electronic gremlins like this can indicate a weak/dying battery. I see your car is an '08, are you still on the original battery?

Yes bought in April but had only 14000 miles - still under warranty so I will probably take advantage of it before it expires. Just strange...car starts right up every time!

Would leaving my iPhone USB plugged in w/out phone wear down the battery?

given that you have a 2008 car with only 14k miles, I would say it's a battery issue, take it in before your warranty expires. They still may not honor it as the car wasn't driven very often to charge the battery. The previous owner(s) needed a battery tender, these batteries are expensive!

No. Car goes to "sleep" approx. 15 minutes after shut down/doors locked and that cuts power to all outlets in the vehicle. USB cable or even an iPod will not draw any power sitting in the car. I have a dedicated iPod that stays in the center console and have never had an issue with the battery in either the M3 or my previous two E60's...

As things progress you see other issues like starting the car and having to reset the date and time. Get it checked out. Can be a while before battery degrades to the point that it won't start the car but the computers will start shutting down non-essential things which is where some of these electronic gremlins come from. Dealer should swap the battery for you...

You need a new battery. I went thru the same thing this summer. You can search my thread "Why is my clock slow?". You are going to have to be very persuasive with your SA. It took me two attempts, but when they finally replaced the battery the clock has been Swiss Watch perfect.

I lose time in the M on certain occasions. You just need to avoid doing 88 MPH and you will be fine.
