Impurities on the Rear bumper
My problem is this I have built up contaminates on my rear bumper, They look like little rust spots(which can't be the case as the bumper is plastic). I have searched the forum and clay seemed to be the answer; however I have clayed the car from front to rear and only a minuscule amount came off of the rear bumper. The rest of the car looks awesome, and the paint is baby smooth, so I would like to rule out operator error on the clay bar. Question is what is the next step? Rubbing compound? wet Sanding?

I would try some iron x first or more aggressive clay but you said let's rule out operator error. If iron x doesn't work then a polish would be required. Try meguiars 105>205

It looks like metal particles that are embedded into the paint.
As suggested try Iron X or more aggressive clay. Note that more aggressive clay will cause swirls so you may need to polish afterwards. |

Everyone else is pretty spot on. IronX plus a good polisher setup should clear it up.

I have this crap all over the back of my car. Where is it coming from? My exhaust is stock.
Which Iron-X works the best? http://www.autogeek.net/carpro-iron-x-cleaner.html

I have the regular Iron X spray and the Iron X Snow Soap.
Regular Iron X works well for removing heavier iron deposits but it gets expensive if you want to use it regularly. You use up half a bottle (250mL) on one car, use it twice and you're out. Iron X is not a replacement for claying so some embedded stuff you still need to clay out. The Snow Soap is nice in that you can wash the car with it. You use very little per wash. It pretty much saves you a step because you don't need to wash then iron x and then wash again. But it is not as strong as regular Iron X and it will strip wax off the car so you will need to re-apply that. Do not use Iron X on bare metal - bare aluminum, iron, steel etc. It will eat and pit the surface! |
