adding sat radio??
Can sat radio be added to a car without nav or sat radio? Considering an '11car with ipod/aux connection and nothing else.
Thx, BC

No iDrive = replacing your OEM Professional Radio with another with built-in Sat tuner.

Again, you need a new radio (if no iDrive), the activation codes and then coding. If your M3 is an E93 then you will need the antenna ($145 or so, plus install).

Sorry I am new here and this seemed the closest to what I was looking for...
I just purchased a used 2011 M3 that is pretty much fully loaded. One of the few options I noticed it was missing is the satellite radio. I DO have iDrive, so will it only require a software update to enable the satellite radio or will I need the antenna installed? How much do you think that this will this cost? I assume the dealer is the only one who can do it. Thanks again...

The satellite radio sounds like crap in my 08 E92 and sounded just as bad in my 10 335i. I have sat radio in my Infiniti SUV and it sounds great but for whatever reason, BMWs implementation is less than stellar...so much so that I won't even pay the subscription to keep it on in my M when the 3 month trial runs out. If you have HD radio, go with that or download something like MOG, Spotify, or Pandora via the iPhone integration. If you remotely care about audio quality, the sat radio will greatly dissapoint you.
