exhaust mod pricing?

I am looking to do the exhaust mod on my e93 m3. Any ideas what the ball park cost is on this.

I got quoted 500 today. Does that seem to steep?

OEM mod isnt worth it IMO. Look for a used exhaust in the FS section.

I was quoted $180, not including install. This is after showing them the YouTube clip of pretty much exactly what was involved in the mod.

Yes the mod is completely worth it.

$500 is high but not completely unreasonable. I paid $400 for mine. It will really depend on the area you live in.

I have the mod. I had all four perf sections cut out and the muffler shop who did mine only charged me $240 but I also tiped him $40.... Try some other places. I love the mod. Sounds perfect IMO...

Had an axle back Magnaflow exhuast I got for a $1000, lightweight and manf claimed +16 HP. I hated the drone... The OEM sounds so much better with no drone, but I'm sure no + in HP...

So keep looking but dont spend $500....

Thanks for the reply btw.

I dont have the pic but if you search the forum, there are some good pics... Basically, there are two pipes, on each pipe there are two perforated sections. 2 per pipe = 4 sections. Each pipe has a small perf (2 total) and a large perf section (2 total). The small sections are wrapped in a brillo pad material. The large are unwrapped. Some people have only done the large sections (2 total). I did all 4, and its awesome!!!!

The reason I wouldn't do this mod is cause even though you get increased noise, you are still stuck with the ugly stock exhaust. Also, good luck if you ever want/need to go back to stock.

Definitely worth getting if you want improved sound/volume.

I purchased another stock muffler to mod. Even after all of this, it is significantly less costly than most other cat-backs.

Im ok with that. Spending 2k+ on a heavy duty exhaust to only impress bmw enthusiasts is not my cup of tea.

Spend a couple hundred to emulate te sound of a good exhaust is well worth it, might be ugly, but its hidden under the car.

I dont like the look of the stock exhaust at all and how it hangs and just ruins the rear of the car, even when painted black.

I would much rather pay a bit more for the sound and look rather than destroying my stock exhaust. Plus the OEM mod has no resale value whereas a nice aftermarket exhaust does.

If you do not want to spend 2-3K on an axel back, BUY THE MEGAN EXHAUST. For $550 you get a fantastic sounding exhaust that looks great and you dont have to tear up your oem exhaust.

Go look around, there are plenty who have bought the megan exhaust and are more than happy with it. PS, its the same one Agency Power sells for ~$1800 just with a different company name.

I did all 4 pipes also for $250. Great sound when you want it and quiet when you don't. No drone at all.

OP, If you want your car to look and sound stock but alittle louder and deeper with no drone, do this mod. I love it. If you want much louder with very little drone look up ACM Mod they are doing them over in AUTOcouture Motoring in Fair Lawn, NJ. You can drive over there.

$500 is high in my opinion.
