2011 Hifi Amp water damage

Hi all,

I have had no audio or warning tones in my car for about 2 weeks now. I finally took my car in and had my amp examined by my dealership. They are claiming water damage has caused galvanic corrosion on the circuit board, and caused some of the circuits to short.

I'm wondering what my options are, and if anybody has had any experience repairing circuitry, or knows of any places that specialize in something like this. I was quoted $1700 labor included for a full replacement of the amp.

Any help or input is appreciated!

Pics below are of the galvanic corrosion (white marks)

A HiFi harness and a XD600/6 will solve that for you, PnP and better sound than OEM. That would be about $450 shipped.

There are 2 late OEM HiFi amps (small silver box) on eBay, one at $300 and the other at $400.

No matter what you do, you must fix that water leak before replacing the OEM amp.

Agreed. Upgrade to some Earthquake SWS-8 and a JL XD600/6 with Technic's harness.

Otherwise, I have a HiFi amp laying around...

Thanks for the quick reply Technic. PnP, no re-programming required? I would say that I'm honestly looking for the simplest solution for the amp replacement, and the XD600/6 seems to make the most sense. Is this a package that you sell personally, or just the harness?

Sidenote, do you know of any suspect areas that people most experience leaking? I was thinking the same thing as far as handling that issue first, and unfortunately I am having trouble remembering if I spilt water on that side or not recently. If not, I'm going to have to locate where the leak is coming from.

I have a brand new late model EPS amp also if you are interested. It's been a paperweight ...

+1 to what Technic said - fix the leak before replacing anything for sure.

Now that Mike suggested an EPS OEM amp as replacement then I took another look at your photos... that's not a HiFi OEM amp.

My suggestion does not apply here as I was responding to the title of your thread, 2011 HiFi amp.

Get that used EPS amp instead.

Sorry for the confusion. I should have specified that I had EPS in the title. I thought that the "Hifi" was specific to EPS to begin with. My mistake.

Here's the top of my amp to confirm it is an EPS "top hifi"

Had them tinted, but that would have been a year ago. My guess is that I would have ran into issues sooner if it were the tint install. But, I'm going to check the trunk for leaks later today.
