Again, have no idea what this is?

Friends, I have put on 500 miles on the M3 since I took delivery exactly two weeks ago. I finally had some free time so I was messing around with all of the settings and features. I came across this function on the dash and was hoping that you can tell me what this is. I have looked through the manual and found nothing. Thanks

I don't think so. It gives me an option either have it on or off. No dimming option.

It is the Shift Light function. You need to set them ON or OFF via your M Key settings (based on your preference) because they'll default to that setting every time you turn the ignition off. The actual shift light brightness is controlled through the instrument panel lighting adjustment function. Page 57 of the manual for more info.
Cheers,

You are mistaken. 6mt does not have shift lights.
