Mike,
I just sent you an email with a few questions. I def need to get this CIC upgrade done, cause my 08 E92 is behind the power curve.

Give me a few days to reply.. sorry

Just got 3 full CIC retrofits in, and working on updating the software to the latest version and 2012 maps, and building the module into the retrofit harness for Nav and Voice Control activation. That way they are ready to go when you get it

I was going to pull the trigger on this, but I heard recently that you lose the BMW assist/teleservices functions with this (the concierge/sos)? Anyone know if this is true? It looks like the pictures above show you have ALL the functions, so I'm confused now.

You're going to lose the assist function only if you swap out for a combox. If you swap out the head CIC navi unit only, you will still have assist.

Once you remove your existing TCU in the vehicle and replaces it with a combox, BMW assist will no longer work. You can regain BMW Assist feature by having BMW assist change the TCU number they have on their end with your COMBOX's number.

On another note, if you opt for the BMW internet/Live service, you will lose the assist function even if BMW changed the TCU number for you.

Thanks johndong, I also found out that there are 2 types of comboxes, media & telematik. telematics one can retain assist but you have to get the dealer to move the ESN over for you and that costs a lot and they might not even do it.
I've found that assist just isn't worth all the hassle and the $190/year. the connected drive features outweigh the loss of my unused assist subscription.

Hopefully this is useful to some future searcher.

Absolutely, we've done them worldwide. As long as you or a shop can do the hardware part, we can do everything else (including phone support for installation as well).

Hi..I am in Australia.

I was wondering if the module that I have in my car just needs tweaking by "coding" which I can do (having done a couple of mods on my car myself)...or do I have to have the whole hardware thingy changed?

I did send Mike a Personal Message...

Would sincerely appreciate any advise / help....

What I would like in my car is exactly as the gentleman above has posted...great stuff...geez, I am envious!!

Hi Mike,

I am ready to pull the trigger on this combox upgrade. How do I go about getting in touch with you to schedule a time to do the install?

Thanks in advance!

How can I get these features for my 2013 M3? I want the Google Search, weather, etc. Or does it work only in the US and not in Canada?

We can do this for you as well if you like. It's a part of our extended coding package. Shoot me a PM and I can discuss more thoroughly.

I added a combox. It's nice for office. What is connected drive? I don't think I have that in my menu.
