CF front splitter install

I bought a pair of CF front splitters and plan on installing them this weekend. I am concerned about scratching the paint while installing this part. Inner side of the part is rough and I wanted to see what other people have done to prevent any possible damages to the bumper/paint. I was thinking of either applying vinyl to smooth out the surface or applying plasti dip.

Can you just take a little sand paper and smooth it out?

I didn't do anything special when I did mine.

Maybe a little soap and water will help lower friction? Then again that won't help the 3M tape stick.....

Did yours have a similar non finished surface? I feel like the roughness will scratch the paint when slipping it on.

I sanded it, painted with 3 coats of primer, then followed by 3 coats of clear. This got the inside real smooth. Went to install the part and it doesn't fit at all. Not even close. It that to a point where I felt the stress of poor fitment was going to crack and break the eBay CF splitters.

Lesson learned...

Go OEM. Fitment is perfect and you won't have to worry about scratching.
