Oem exhaust mod vs resonator delete

I am trying to take a quick route in improving my exhaust sound.

A few people mentioned resonator delete but i am not into obnoxious raspy sounds. I just got my e93 m3 not to long ago and i am reading stuff on oem exhaust mod.

Can anyone provide a diagram or a diy
Of what it is since i am a bit confused . They are different methods, and i want something medium loud.. Lookong to take this to mu mechanic today to do.

They cut it open, replace the two pipes that have perforations along their entire length with pipes that have no perforation. There are four pipes total inside, two with perforations along a short length of the pipe and two with perforations along a long length of the pipe.

Be sure to repack the "furry" material inside, this will keep the sound refined.

How much of a difference did it make it noise? Can u describe it..

I can try:

First, it is a noticeable difference in sound, throatier I'd say, but only when you give it a considerable amount of gas. Also, cold start, is definitely louder when you give it any gas.

Now, when at considerable RPM (4-5k+), the exhaust will pop sometimes and the sound is glorious. You can sense there is a beast under the hood waiting to conquer the road.

In summary, the mod forces more air directly out of the pipes, and you can certainly tell. The force the exhaust lets out that your ears pick up is striking.

I just did same mod for my E93, and absolutely love it! It is different enough but not obnoxious.

Sounds great! is it far better than just ONLY deleting the resonator? Because a friend mechanic of mine suggested i do the resonator delete for better sound. Would you happen to know both sounds and be able to explain the difference?

Don't delete your resanator. Delete your cats and replace them with resonators

So do both? ExhAust mod and delete cat and replace with resonator.. Doesnt that cause Cel to go off??

There are two pairs of cats in the exhaust, - primary and secondary. The primary ones have a lambda sensor after them and removing them will cause a CEL.

The secondary ones have no sensors after them, so the ECU does not know whether they are there or not.

See pic below, the engine end is nearest and you can see both sets of cats and the sensors.

I did the exhaust mod and replaced all 4 pipes. I'm very happy with it. My exhaust guy used 2.5" pipe to eliminate drop in back pressure. You can also go with 2.75" pipe if you like the pop associated with reduced back pressure. It's all just for the sound tho.
