SMG info on '04 or newer M3

I am looking into purchasing a 2004 or so M3 and have some questions concerning the SMG. I have owned a 2002 325ci since new (Premium , Sport, 5sp) and installed an ASA Supercharger too boost it up a little. It now has 107k miles on it and I am thinking of buying a slightly newer M3 and perhaps enjoy the higher revs that I long for. I have driven an M5 w/ SMG III, but can anyone tell me if the SMG II is enjoyable and are shifts quick? If not, I will go with another manual transmission. Thanks for your help!

The shifts are the same speed in the SMG II. Granted, the SMG III has one more gear, 80 millisecond shifts can also be achieved with the e46 M3. I have had two e46 M3s, both with SMG and they were fantastic. Lightning fast response and launch control too, it's the best.
