I'm planning to go on the 23rd but its going to more of a peaceful(boring) 35mph cruise than a run because my wife will be with me.

Skyline Drive itself is boring with speed restrictions. Darkstar has always ventured into the backroads of VA and W.VA.

An idea would be to do a previously run route organized by Darkstar.

By "Skyline run" that's what I was referring to, the back road route. WAY too many of VA's finest on the actual Skyline Drive to permit any spirited driving.

I'd be down before it gets too chilly. Pretty sure we could all get a decent group to go with short notice. My buddy and I have been talking about just driving out there ourselves this weekend... maybe we could make a nice route for this to bring you guys on later.

Sounds like a good idea. Unfortunately I'm booked up with detailing this weekend so I won't be able to join. I'm in for a future run though so keep this post updated.

What duration do you consider mini? My friend and I went out today from about 1:45pm to 7pm and found some greats roads between route 7 and 50 out by purceville.

If that sort of duration is okay then maybe we can try setting the date for the run?????

EDIT: I'll be in AC the weekend of the 30th.......

mine are more of a 4 hour run. 1 hour each way of "commuting" to skyline or skyline area, and 2 hours of the drive itself. But I leave early in the morning, so I have the evening free.

When I do go at night, I bring a telescope and do some sky watching too, though this month it's pretty tame in terms of planets.

Skyline drive doesn't have to be part of the drive either. Darkstar's threads have mutliple maps that doesn't include skyline drive as part of the drive, with some pretty decent NOVA backroads.

I'm still interested. It's already getting cold though. The Continentals were slipping and sliding all over the place this morning at 42 degrees.

I'm down for whenever, but like Merlosso said its getting cold and most of our tires don't like those temps. What about next Sunday weather permitting? I would suggest Saturday but I'll be working.

Are non-BMWs allowed? I recently traded in my 2009 M3 sedan for a 2013 Audi S4 (I know it's sacrilegious on these boards...S4 serves my needs better though). I participated in Skyline Run VI 2 years ago with my M3 and it was a blast. It seems there are more BMW enthusiasts here in the DC area...

Absolutely, I don't even have a BMW anymore, moved on to an '88 Porsche 951.
