primary cat delete+OEM mod+Evolve tune
I thought my primary cat delete was still a little too quiet, so today I did the OEM exhaust mod. I was very surprised how loud and high pitch it became. it sounded very good but I think it is a bit too loud for a daily drive car. perhaps I should have cut out the shorter section of the perforated pipe instead of the longer one. check out my video.

This is identical to my current exhaust. It's weird how quiet and drone free it is inside the car compared to how loud it is outside. It is extremely loud outside, I'm almost embarrassed....almost

Guess its just a love or hate depending on the person. I absolutely LOVE the high pitch rasp of a catless s65 engine. Something so pure about that rasp as all those high speed exhaust gases spitting out from 8400 rpms of engine speed speeding along unblocked through the pipes screeching and rasping. It sounds like a race-car and a very pure race sound.
I personally think catless/HFC/Test-pipes and the OEM rear muffler with no mod sounds the best. Its a bit loud for my taste with a modified OEM muffler and catless but still think it sounds magnificent |

looks like you are driving in a somewhat enclosed area where the sound will reverb and be a little amplified. Maybe try out on a more open road, post another video if you can. I am going back and forth about adding this mod, but VERY afraid it will be too loud

There's def something about the quality of the BMW that keeps outside sound pretty tame inside the car w/ windows up cuz I def think from outside the sh*zz is loud. hehe. Anytime I drive through a partially covered area with windows down...it's like O.M.G. =)

Yes....i did the Oem.exhaust mod. too replaced the 2 big perforated pipes with 2 full stainless steel pipes...same as you .( and i love it)
But your exhaust is louder due to the primary cat delete and replaced it by test pipe. I must say....sound's good, raspy...but sporty !(nice video) The negative point is...louder,short trip will be nice ,but a longer trip 40-50 miles...than it will be...maybe too loud..and you will get tired about it,and glad to get out of the car,but i said it already...sound is very personal ! But when you love it....why not ![]() Last edited by ///M Power-Belgium; 03-09-2013 at 03:28 PM. |

Any videos of the same setup (test pipes + oe exhaust mod) from
1) idling and revving from the outside? 2) in car in an open area at city speeds (45 mph) and highway speeds (65mph) 3) in cabin in an open area driven aggressively 4) outside and acceleratiing 5) drive by I want to do the exhaust mod first this year and then after I get used to the car at the track I plan to do tune and test pipes... However everyone I have talked to have said exhaust mod + test pipes is too loud... |
