Garage List
Superchargers and Smog (Visuals)

I'm in Cali and subject to state smogging when I register any car at year 6 and then every 2 years thereafter. Bought my M3 new in Sept 2012, so I will have until summer 2018 until I need to get smog'd. Cali requires an inspection and OBD analysis from what I recall.

For those with superchargers and the requirement to smog with states requiring visuals, what do you do? Since I have an Akra Evo, I will be installing my stock exhaust...that's pretty simple....but what to do about the blower? De-install and re-install would be a big pain.

Cheers.

I don't know. I simply put car to Non-operation so you don't need to do smog check and register anymore, but never get caught.

Finding a place that will "pass" you with everything on your car right now is your best bet. It will cost a few hundred, but it might be worth it.

If you don't want to do that you can put on the stock x-pipe, do the crazy bmw drive cycle to get all the sensors in readiness mode, and hope they are lazy on the visual inspection and don't do it. My friend passed with his supercharger still on because they thought that is what it looked like stock lol.
