progressive snap shot

i think it would be funny to call up progressive and ask to get a quote based on the snap shot. take that thing plug it into the car and take it to the track. send it in and see how they like seeing 140mph every 2 minutes for half an hour at a time.

That would be funny. Hope they couldn't use the information against you though.

I was thinking we could have a competition with the snapshot trial to see who could get the biggest prospective percentage raise in their insurance premium!

From what I understand, the main thing they look at is braking force. So if you brake hard (which to them is probably 10% threshold haha) then no discount. There was an article in C&D about it and apparently the writer had like 60 instances of "dangerous braking" in a few weeks of street driving. They would love our braking on track!

We were talking about this at the track last weekend. Someone mentioned this might be considered to be standard equipment in the next 3 years. Anyone else heard any thing about mandating these types of devices? Maybe if you get too many tickets like the breathalzer interlocks?

Surely not. That seems like seriously infringing on our rights. Possibly unconstitutional, and, at a minimum, overly intrusive. Guess I'd stick to pre (whatever year that happened) cars .

I'm wondering if Progressive would share the info with other companies.

But their building is steel and glass. It's down here in Tampa. Cars already track location; why not these metrics?
