Front fog lights.

Do to NW weather and road conditions, I felt the need for fog lights. Here's my solution.
I started the project by following the DIY for activating the rear fog lights and went ahead and enabled the front switch as well. I then installed the new lights in the "felt boxes". They are easy access by removing a few screws and then popping out. To complete the wiring I took the car to Car Toys in Portland, OR. They informed me that the factory front fog switch componets are incomplete internally so they installed the aftermarket switch that you see on the left of the main switch.
The system works great. Just respect curbs!

These appear to be DAYLIGHT RUNNING LIGHTS. Are they bright enough to act as fog lights? You've certainly placed them low enough (as fog lights should be) however, if my experience is worth anything, you'll be ripping them off on a curb w/i a week!

I agree that a better placement is needed...PIAA's ain't cheap and hate for you to loose 'em over a steep drive way or speed bump...

I agree, OP will be 5 feet from parking curbs here on out.

I don't think there's any way to make an aftermarket fog light kit look good on an E9x M3.

Sorry.

It just doesn't work. The color doesn't match the headlights. I'm sorry OP, I doubt you find much love here.

Cosmetically, it is to each of their own. I have seen people running in pink and green halo lights on their M3/335 and that definitely looked worse than OP's setup.

However, the location where those lights are installed isn't really a great idea as others have said it. Unless you plan to back in to a parking stall all the time, those might soon needs to be replaced.

OEM fog lights are white. Yellow is an aftermarket choice but actually reduces light output.

For time and skills invested they don't look too great. Post-E46, M heritage has been upheld by no fog lights, even the X5M's and X6M's don't have em and they're SUV's for goodness sakes.

To each his own. I have to laugh though at some of these responses as it's certainly not the most ghetto mod I've seen on this board.

DRLs are not fog lights
DRLs are to make yoyu more obvious to other drivers.
An LED DRL is not for light output. While LEDs look bright when you look towards them, they do not illuminate as well as a regular halogen bulb or HID.
You are not accomplishing your goal with those lights, and its looks horrible
