What's missing?
Ok, so I've RTFM and I'm not finding answers to the two following questions:
On my '10 E92 (just purchased), I know I'm missing something in the "iPod adaptor" area. Is it just a cable with aux jack + USB? iDrive reads "not supported" on the USB when I plug my standard iPhone cable in. I'd like to have my music be available via the iDrive. It would seem like I have the basics (Smartphone and iPod integration are on the car) but I can't get my iPhone connected so that it works other than pumping iPhone driven tunes via the aux cable. (see first pic) What is the clip at the top of my trunk for? (see second pic) Thanks!

Hi
You need the actual BMW ipod connector cable. Won't go with out it, gold with it! Strange hook in the boot - that I am told is "curry hook" that you can hang a bag on...stupid huh? Cheers stu |

wow, a rare '10. haha. Anyway, you need the 6FL cable that plugs into both the USB port and the stereo mini jack to the bottom right of your picture.
You also have the smartphone integration option, but lack a base plate. That's what the odd port at the top of your picture is for. They sell base plates for blackberries and iphones.

That hook in your trunk is to hold up the trunk mat if you needed to access that area below... But yes, you can hook bags on it also. I use a normal iPod USB cable and have all features through iDrive... I don't use the BMW supplied cable OR the BMW cradle...
Keep playing around with JUST the iPod/iPhone cable... you will get it to work...

Cool, thanks all.
I'll track down a cable and I'll poke around on the forum to see if I can figure out what the iPhone base plate would buy me over the cable, if anything. 'preciate the help! (and mine is an early 2010 model so it sounds like the standard USB iPhone cable isn't an option for me).

http://www.amazon.com/iDRIVE-ADAPTER...=6fl+bmw+cable The cable will let you control an iPod or iPhone to play music via iDrive. The phone base plate will let you integrate phone without bluetooth. If I remember correctly, it does not let you control your music functions while in the base plate.

Not bad but I bought my replacement cable from eBay with the 'Buy It Now' option (I don't have time/patience for auctions) for less than half that price: http://www.ebay.com/sch/i.html?LH_It...fLoc=3&_sop=15
