Accident ... '11 M3
Most dangerous place of all >>> Parking Lot
I was in my M3, standing still in neutral gear was just about to shift to go forward when Toyota Rav-4 all of a sudden backed out from it's Handicapped Spot... and with it's bumper hit the rear left side of my M3... Split second before it happened I saw him coming in my drivers side rear view mirror, I pushed on the horn... but didn't help... it was done... Does anyone can give me an idea how much damage it is to my M3? Amazingly, my M3 didn't get any scraped paint, - all damage is "pushed on" and the paint is intact. I need to get an idea and advice from experts around here before I go to dealer to estimate...

Before anyone else comes in here telling you that the quarter panel needs to get replaced (which is completely unnecessary in this case) I'll chime in.
The quarter will be repaired, and painted, along with the door being blended. My source: I have a body shop. Best of luck! Any questions pm me. Never seen anyone illustrate an accident, I found it hilarious.. sorry. lol |

also, I would consider consulting with a PDR expert in your area if there is in fact no paint damage...

There's nothing more frustrating than being backed into in a parking lot. I've had it happen to me twice (NOT my M3) and both times the drivers didn't even look behind them. I mean seriously c'mon!
Good luck with repairs. I hope they were insured. |

Having had similar but less extensive damage recently repaired I will say there is no way paintless dent removal can handle that damage. As IFX points out the quarter panel can be repaired and repainted. The issue is the creases above the wheel well, very tough spot for painless dent folks to fix...

I'm surprised the rav didn't sustain one of those infamous Toyota bubble indentations. Maybe cause he hit a bimmer.
This exact thing almost happened to me once when I was parked behind my wife. Except I saw it and put it In reverse to get outta the way but u know how the dct lag goes. Floored gas car didn't move and finally did in the nick of time and my front fender cleared her rear bumper by a hair. Sucks though, sorry for your loss. |

 Odds the Rav4 driver was on his/her phone? It's just amazing the number of people I've seen backing up USING their phone. Good luck with repairs! .

People backing up without looking since to be common practice and I just don't get it. I mean doesn't it make sense to look where you're going whether forward or backwards
 I was in a drive through once when the guy in front of me decided to leave...by backing up I was at the take-order screen a couple car lengths behind. Caught me by surprised, I layed on the horn as I peeled out a few feet in reverse (not before looking ). Dude literally got within inches of my car. WTF people.Anyhow, GL OP! |

OP, I feel for you/your M3. It's such a shame.
Based on your diagram, I'm still trying to figure how the RAV4 driver did NOT see you in his/her rearview mirror. You were stopped and the other driver still backed out and into you. Wow.
