Hello from Belgium(My oem exhaust mod.)

First of all hello to everyone on this ///M3 forum ( new member)
By this i want to testify of my oem exhaust mod.
I have the 2 big perforated tubes replaced by full stainless steel tubes with
size 2.5 inches ore 63.5 mm (Belgium) ,exhaust opened along top (you see then nothing and than put the fiberglass back in ,and oversprayd the
weldings with zinc-spray, to prevent rust.(exhaust is double walled)
I have been following this forum for over a year now and have studied
this oem mod, and i want to thank everyone on this forum.
If i had known that this sounded so good,i would have done this from day one,it makes the ///M3 comes to life, its a very racy sound......at cold start
about 30- 40 percent louder,and after a few minutes.....around 3000 rpm
a great refined exotic racing sound, that is never disturbing( 0.0 drone )
And find now myself driving with my window a few inches down to hear this
great sound the///M3 makes and in fact so diserves from the ///M3 factory.
I have previously driven in Belgium(M-testdrive center)Bornem with the
performance exhaust and sounded to hollow and droned at low rpm's
like the akrapovic slipon, both are made from titanium&Inconel and have a typical hollow
sound,that i not like to hear.....and i know....this is personal course.
Therefore.....anyone who still doubs....do this....and do it now!!!
I've done this myself and cost me 10 euro for the full inox tube and one day
of work, and think now i have 3000 euro's saved.....and have an exhaust with
a perfect racy sound that droned 0,0 .
Changes......yes, when i first started the ///M3 my neigbor was at his front door?!?!? and said the next day....this most be ... a heavy sportscar.
People turn their heads now and see....a beautiful ........ SilverstoneE92 BMW///M3 .
Link to my thread of all this with pics, diy, video, and exhaust sound >http://www.m3post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=733817

So when you first started her up; your neighbours came to the door?

When I first started my Eisenmann Race..... My neighbours hid in their basement.

Welcome to the forum.

Drone..... What the heck is that?

Kidding; I could care less. I drive open always; unless it's pissing down rain, or the temp goes over 40.

Yup, I drive her every day.

And, neighbours...... don't have any really. Well, I do; but they're far away and love the sound of my bitch screaming.

I was kidding about them hiding.

Nice!
I bought the 2,5 inch pipe last week so maybe this weekend I make the mod too.

But anyone tried to weld lalso the holes in the other part of the pipes (those wrapped with fiber) ?

Big difference between welded just perforated pipes and perforated + the second smaller perfroration?

When I open the muffler I just want to weld both perforation parts at once, so please let me know before i do it :P

Had ACM mod, now Eisenmann Race. No issues with either.

Yeah, I'm lucky enough to even have this car with three little kiddos.

Is test pipes + tune + oem exhaust mod stupid loud? I'm looking for something more than stock, and love the sound of the oem mod, but I'm also wanting to eventually get TP + tune. Just don't want to overdo it.

Anyone have the OEM mod done in FL? I'm looking to potentially start out there while I consider other exhaust options (leaning toward ESS) if it can be had for cheap.

When you're ready to put the top part back on, do you weld both layers? or do you just weld one back on and throw away the other? Can't wait to get this done!

In my opinion it is too loud, but you have to make that call. If you can listen to someone's I would do that.

i have heard many people like TP with OEM mod. but then again there are people who say its to loud.

from personal experience. getting the right sound doesn't always happen first try. you are going to have to try things on your own.

I don't have any issue with it being loud, but I don't want drone at highway speeds, and I don't want it so loud that it pisses off pretty much everyone who hears it. It's a fine line, for sure.

My plan is to get TP and tune first, see how that changes the tone and volume, and if I think it needs some more, go ahead with the OEM mod. Now to track down that disposable income...

that sounds like a perfect idea. i will this say. i think the OEM mufflers sound awful with test pipes though. in terms of tone.
