Moving to Dallas!

My wife and I are relocating next month from Nashville. She's from Houston and I'm from Charleston so it'll be a much bigger change for me.

I'll be working uptown but I don't have a house yet.

I'm looking in the Preston Hollow area and east of town. I don't want a long commute and want to rent for 2 years before buying. If anyone has a house to rent or knows of one let me know. Just need 3BR, a garage of course and a fenced in yard for Fido.

What dealer should I use in the area?
Any good get togethers?

I'll be down for track days by October once i'm settled in. I have one last race at VIR in a few weeks before I say by to the east coast
I'll miss Road ATL, VIR and Barber but I hear Texas isn't so bad....we'll see

Preston Hollow is really nice.

I like BMW of Dallas, it will be close by Preston Hollow. Only used them once or twice, but they did OK by me.

Go to Classic BMW for service, much better IMO.

Check out DFW AutoClub a local multi-brand site. There's lots of info about events, drives, and track days.

Dealers are variable. Autoscope (3 locations) is great for an independent shop.

Need to sign up fast! I think they'll check you out in Green first and then they can move you up during the weekend. That will be a popular event, the 3.1 is super fun! How odd, 66% of all MCB E90s in the US will be at the same track!

I like TDE because its one organization that goes to many tracks...so you're not starting over at each track.

I'd just bring a chair or two. A group of us has everything else taken of - tent, drinks, shade, tools, jacks, etc.

If you wanna stay over night, there's a hotel that's RIGHT across the street, Best Western Cresson. I'd call not to make a reservation and ask for the Driver's Edge rate. Its like $70 per night.

I think Golfrrr said there was a 3rd and he posted in your thread about picking up your car.

That was me who moved here in May; I also work in the uptown area and live fairly close to there. I know I've only been in Dallas for a few months now but so far I am liking it quite a lot.

Everything I have gathered from Calintexas and the guys over at DFWAC has been great advice! I would definitely give their recommendations a shot as they all offer great advice.

Been great so far. The roads suck though so I've been driving my FJ a lot. It's been rough getting used this traffic as well but i hear Austin is worse. We live close to my office in uptown hence the bad roads. Nashville was heaven in comparison.

I'm not sure, the traffic in Austin on I35 is bad but you can take TX130 and its awesome! Speed limit is 80mph and very little police presence. I might be cruising at 100mph from time to time. It is a toll road though but at least its a fast toll road. Unlike the PA Turnpike for example.

Still going to MSR Cresson at the end of the month?
