Ha! That is the plant that will not die. We cut the crap out of it every year and it just comes back, bigger and bigger. I like it though because it attracts hummingbirds and bees to my back patio, making for relaxed picture taking when I don't feel like leaving the house.

Good luck to Cyprus, you and your money over the next few days. I can't imagine someone coming in and saying to me, "We're going to take 3 to 15% of any money you've got in the bank." I'm sure there's a lot of disruption going on.

lots of disruption.. things are extremely unstable and me (as abank employee) may lose my job in the next weeks..
the 10% cut on our savings is nothing. to be honest most cypriots would give that if requested to save our country. the problem is afterwards because foreign investors will not invest here anymore. if this happens the economy will collapse.
although i have very little trust on our president, i still believe in our parliament, and i hope they will vote No tomorrow.
this whole situation is created by Germany to make Russian investors to leave Cyprus and later on have the upper hand in the oil and gas reserves we recently found.
there are other ways to deal with this situation, the icelandic model being one of them. we will see..

I wouldn't be so quick to blame Germany, at least not for the mess that the Cypriot banks got themselves into. I'd be more inclined to blame the Russians, although they don't run the banks either. In the end, it's your own bankers who should have known better than to allow the banks to get so big and then to make matters worse by investing in Greek bonds. Like bankers everywhere, the quick buck was more important to them than long term goals. Episodes like this make me wonder how anyone can think we need less regulation in banking.

And I'm not beating up on Cypriot banks alone, either. Plenty of financial organizations in the US have suffered due to greed and short-sightedness. We didn't get taxed on deposits, but my retirement accounts sure took a beating in 2008.

in the end we must all admit the Euro is a failed experiment. If you ask me we should leave the Euro, accepting anything that comes with this decision, devaluation of our currency for example, and stand on our own feet. This problem is not of cyprus alone, italy spain portugal and greece are all in the same boat.

It might surprise you to learn that the Germans feel the same way. The Germans I know (admittedly a very small sample size) rue the day they went to the Euro. The differences in economies, especially between smaller ones like Cyprus and Greece and the larger ones like France and Germany, was just too much of an obstacle. I hope it works out somehow. If it doesn't we'll be feeling the effects here in the US as well.

it doesnt suprise me, i havent got any thigh against the german people, after all they ssuffer the same burden, giving money for other countris but in reality they are giving it to the banks. its the government i have problems with, them and their opinions about our economy, their regulations and ways of implementing them. democracy is lost in the EU and if it comes down to a handful of people in the EU to regain it then i hope our parliament is up to it and not accept those terms and consequently declare a referendum for our stay in the EU.. thats just wishful thinking.

i think we should move the snapshot of the day to the political forum

sorry everyone

You mean the EU? The UK doesn't use the Euro, right?

Tape that to the front door with a sign reading, "What about the other 19?" The robbers will leave you alone.

Stitched images? If so, did you think about adding another row?

Or use Portrait orientation.

It was portrait with a 135 and the camera was not level. I had to skim quite a bit off of this. The one I did previously was not nearly as curved as this one but a couple frames less wide. I really need to get a three way head rather than fighting with a ball all the time.
