New camera! Nikon D7000

Hey guys. Just wanted to hear some opinions on what I just got. My dad and I both love photography as a hobby of sorts. Nothing professional. I shoot for fun, and put together slideshows and posters and what not... but I'm not making a living off of my photography.

So, we picked up a Nikon D7000 today (to replace the D80). Also got a Tamaron lens with it (17:50, 2.8). And we are keeping the kit lens that came with the D80 (18:135).

I'll definitely be posting up BMW and other car related photography in their respective sections, and I'll have a thread here for my non-car related stuff! (leaving for Maui on Saturday, so I'll definitely have a BUNCH of photos to post).

Friend of mine just got one last month. He just bought a Tamron 24-70 F2.8 for it. He's already got some really sweet images from it. It's a great camera. Looking forward to some pics from Maui. Make sure to post some up when you get back.

Just got one last month to replace my D5100, love it! The handling just feels worlds better, obviously the bigger view finder too.

Replaced the 18-105mm kit lens with 16-85mm and 35mm f1.8 for low light...the kit lens use plastic mount which I've heard horror stories about them breaking on their own, just not very reassuring. Now time to save up for 80-200 f2.8

80-200 sounds legit. Nice to see a fellow user with no complaints!

I'm loving the tamron 17-50 f2.8, and the camera body really improves the quality of even the D80 kit lens (18-105/135).

Ahh the 80-200 2.8. I'm always wondering about that lens if it'll do well for sports photography and perhaps under lighting conditions that are low. They had 2 versions tho, AF-D and AF-S, which one would you be getting?

I would get the AF-D version. The AF-S version is more plasticky and discontinued in 2004. AF-D version is still in production plus it's cheaper.
