Does carbon fiber need waxing?

Do we need to wax carbon fiber parts ... M3 roof, front splitters, rear diffuser, etc?

I would think "No" since wax is only used on painted parts, right?

Thoughts?

absolutely! the CF parts have a clear coat on them so treat them like any painted panel of the car.

I tend to. Carbon fiber still has a clear coat on it, would help protect it from yellowing down the road.

Dang, I was trying to get away with being lazy! Guess more work for me.

I've seen people wax everything ... lights, tires, wheels, windows, tail lights, exhaust.

I don't need to go that crazy, right?

actually yes it does if you want it to last long and look good. but be careful what wax you use on it. there is a specific wax 3M sells for its paint protection film.

Invest in a >good< orbital buffer - eliminates much of the 'hard' work.

Glaze/Sealant - Better lasting protection, less shine

Wax - Less Lasting Protection, more shine

All depends on what you are going for.

Sealants these days are pretty damn good in appearance (shine, gloss etc). Really no need for a natural wax. The same couldn't be said 10 years ago.

as others have said you have to wax it. If you don't over time the clear coat will peel and the CF will discolor and it'll look like this:
