Price check on 2011 E92

Good morning. I am considering trading in my 2010 335i for a 2011 or 2012 M3. I would appreciate opinions/thoughts on the below car, especially the price point, which seems a little high to me. Danke.

Looks good. Maybe you could get them down to 55K?

I'm also in the mkt for the current M3. Suggest you sit tight until the new m3 hits the floor and sell your 335i instead of trading it in. Dealer is going to low ball you on your trade and want top dollar for the M. I'd also stick to the forums if you are in the mkt. Lots of value when a forum member puts his beast up for sale. All you have to do is search past treads to know what you are getting. Another tool is to check out the BMWCCA website when looking for your next M car.

Good luck

Thanks for the reply. Do you think $55k is a good price for that car? Looking ont he board here, seems like some folks are getting low mileage 11's in the low $50s.......

Thanks for the advice, esp. on the BMWCCA website, some good stuff on there. I may sell my 335i privately; the new M3 isn't going to be out for quite a while, no? I am pretty much ready to make the change now.....

Kelley blue book is 58K for certified with these options assuming excellent condition. Why dont you make them an offer of 53K and see what they say? Then tell them you have a trade. At least you will have them locked in on their selling price. Nice car! Good luck.

I just bought a cpo alpine white m3 18,000 miles with another 6yr 100,000 miles warranty for $47,000 so I might think the price is high , I've seen dealers sell 2011s with low miles for $52,000 when I was looking for mine

that's easily $52k or lower. besides, $58k is their first price with the massive margin.

The CARFAX history on this car is odd and leads me to believe you need to ask for a complete maintenance history from the dealer.
For one thing the car was sold as new in December 2011 but 2012's had been in production for at least 3 months. Meaning the car must have been on the lot for a long time in 2011. You might want to ask for the build date.
Also, there is no 1200 mile service done on the car. You might look at other CPO M3s for sale and you'll see what a normal CARFAX looks like.
Lastly, it appears this current dealer has had the car for 4 months and, according to the CARFAX, may have sold it during that period, then had to take it back

Thanks for the feedback; I had looked at the Carfax, and it did look a little out of the ordinary. Do you think there is something behind this, and if so, what would you suspect?

Post the vin# on the site asking info on the car. You might get lucky and find someone who is able to check it out for you. Post on the general forum to capture more traffic. Also post it on the e90 general section. BMWCCA is a great resource. Members there would rather sell their car to a fellow enthusiast than hand it back to the dealer. They will also tell you everything about the car instead of just saying it has a clean carfax...which is bs crutch imo. Remember carfax is a dealer supported document.

F80 will probably roll into dealer showrooms within 18months. Once they do, the current generation will take a bigger than normal depreciation hit. You will see many trade ins and lease returns hit the lot.

Thanks for the advice. There seems to be something not right with that '11. It has been sitting with the dealer since December, and is on every CL list in TX.....or maybe I am being paranoid. Best to get it checked out as fully as possible.

Update on this one. I called and spoke with the dealership today. The sticker price is $58.9k, and they immediately came down to $56.9k, but wouldn't come down any further. I offered $52k and $53k but they wouldn't move on it. I thanked them for their time and moved on.

The fella didn't even really try and sell the car to me, which considering how long it has been on their hands, I found a little strange. Maybe he was having a bad day.......either way, car is overpriced it seems.

Even that seems high given it has very few options.
