How to change gearstick gaiter on a DTC???

I would like to change the gaiter on my DTC car but cant find them anywere.
So Ive talked to a guy that can get it made for me if he can use my stock one as a sample to make the new one from.

But how do I get the gaiter out? In short is it possible to change it?
Anyone done it?

You mean "DCT" and "gate".

DTC is the traction control on non-M BMWs.

As far as I'm aware, no one has ever done this on these forums. That doesn't mean it's not possible, but it would explain why no one's responded.

No but I would like to have a alacantra gaiter with the M stich

But for that to happen I need to get the stock gaiter out and send it to the guy who makes the new one.

Oh, if you're just looking to change out your boot, that's relatively easy. Plenty of people have done it, and there are a lot of vendors that sell boot alternatives. Just do a search.

Yeah on the manual version but havent found any for the DTC gearstick/box

Trust me I have looked everywere but still havent found any for some weird reason.

But my main question is how do I get the stock gaiter/boot of?
Since its not like the normal gearstick Im a bit reluctant to just twist and pull lol

Yeah I know, but I can have this boot/gaiter made for a fraction of that insane price...

And I want it in alacantra fabric instead.

Translation: OP wants to use an alcantara boot on the DCT shifter instead of OEM boot, but wants to know how to change it out.

Search is your friend, use it.

But you found at least something close to what Im looking for.
On the other hand how complicated can it be to change a boot?!?!?

I have order a Alacantra boot with M stich and will give it a go as soon as I get it
