test pipe length

For those that have done the Turner Test pipe mod, or had a muffler shop weld in their own pipe to remove the primary cats, do you know how long that section of pipe is? My shop doesn't have stainless steel pipe, so I need to pick some up and bring it to them to be welded on. I believe it's 2.5 inch diameter, but not sure of the length. Of course I could jack the car up and take a measurment, but that would be too much work. ;-) Figured someone here that's done this would know.

Or, my other option is to use standard 14 guage aluminum muffler pipe. Any downside going this route instead of stainless? It won't look as good, but no one is going to see it anyway.

Thanks.

The stock piping is 2.58" OD. For replacing the primaries, you will want 14" for each side give or take a half inch.

^ Thanks Tech. Any idea what the downside of using standard aluminum muffler pipe would be instead of stainless steel?

You can't use aluminum but you can use aluminized steel. There is no power drawback. The aluminized just doesn't have the same life expectancy as stainless. It will eventually rust from the inside out. Still it's not a big deal and nothing you will probably every know.

Thanks, yea I should have mentioned it would be aluminized steel (what the muffler shops use all the time). Sounds like maybe I should just go this route. Rounding up stainless steel pipe may be a pain anyways... Thanks much for the info.
