Make sure that the phone has some Unopened/Unread messages as well as it appears to filter on them only and not read messages.

I have a bunch of emails unopened on my phone and i tried texting myself while it was paired... Nothing

When you configure your phone I only have options of Phone and audio... do you have office or just the two as well?

How about the Bluetooth settings on the iPhone. Is "Show Notifications" turned on?

I have phone, audio and office checked under the bt settings in the iDrive.

Yep show notifications is on. I don't have office available on my idrive. I wonder if Bluetooth MAP is only limited to 4S models only... Been researching all day and haven't found any indication that is. I have "current office" that shows up in my office sub menu and I can have the message part show up but no messages actually come up. I can update it and the circle shows that it is updating when I press update messages on the idrive in the office menu. Also, once and a while it says "updating messages"

I have ios6 beta 2. But I want to know how to make it work. And if I'll need to buy any options on my soon to be bimmer!!!!

Does this work with Android or WinPhone? Seems that Bluetooth MAP is a standard... no reason why this would not work across the board?

IOS6, is this available only when you hook up your phone to your computer? When I go in to settings>general>software update, it says "iOS 5.1.1 your software is up to date".

Rumor is the iPhone 5 will have a new USB connector. There will be alot of us having to buy new iPhone cords from BMW..

ios6 Isn't available yet. It won't be out till September. Some people get to run the beta version to test it.

i have X5 M sport 50i and build was 11/10 and my iDrive has office feature. there's nothing to do with phone. i have android galaxy nexus and 4s and office shows even they are not connected.

my 4s has developer listed but ill wait to get jailbroken. ill stay with 5.1.1 jailbroken because i have a lot of good stuff loaded on it lol

Check you phone compatibility with the link above.

This is sample of the e9X M3 feature-set with the iPhone4s under iOS 5.1.
As you can see email and SMS is not supported in iOS 5.1

There's no enhanced Bluetooth in your X3.

MAP is a Bluetooth profile. Either your phone has it or not as part of its BT profile set.
