Truth is, there is only so much power you will get on 91 octane and only one meth kit available for the M3 that works well. I did the flash tune thing and it doesnt compare to how the meth feels.
Got it. I really would recommend going with boost juice...or better yet, mounting the meth tank in the trunk if you want to run higher meth concentrations.

Running higher meth concentrations is very dangerous because the meth fumes alone can cause fires in the engine bay from the WW tank cap coming loose. Scary though, huh?

Furthermore, running 100% meth provides only a negligible difference in power in most applications vs 49/51 (boost juice). I have countless logs of 75/25 vs 49/51 and there is little discernable difference. The 49/51 meth/water ratio plus 91 octane gives you effectively 100+ octane. More meth = higher effective octane but if you aren't tuned for it, it doesn't matter.

By the way, I'm running the aggressive Vishnu maps in which 75/25 meth/water is recommended by my car logs the exact boost/timing as with 49/51. Water doesn't atomize as effectively as meth but provides significant cooling to the intake charge and so has other benefits besided effective octane.

With all the fires on the n54 side as a result of meth (and the one's it is happening to are running high meth concentrations), it's just not worth the risk.

Very good info. So you're saying, with the aggressive Vishnu tune, there is no difference between the recommended 70/30 and 50/50?

Also, what EXACTLY is causing the fires? The flimsy wiper fluid lid coming off?

If meth is mixed in greater concentrations than 50/50, it's flammable. So anything could cause a fire really.. tank leaks, line comes loose, etc. The stock washer fluid bottle also overflows to behind the front passenger wheel, so if you somehow get fuel to leak out of there, any type of spark or cigarette could do it. A trunk bottle could lead to cabin fires because of the venting fumes if you occasionally smoke inside your car.

Fires????? I'm sure Shiv would have something to say about this. I also wouldn't recommend using windshield wiper fluid. I have been using an 80/20 mix as directed by Shiv at Vishnu.

Quotes from the FAQ from www.vishnutuning.com:
"How much does it cost to fill the meth tank up?
Most race fuel stores will sell methanol for just $3/gallon. If methanol is not readily available to you, denatured alcohol (sourced for any hardware store) can be used."

"Do I run pure methanol or do I mix it with water?
We recommend running a 70/30 mix of methanol/distilled water. A 50/50 mixture can be used but it will not result in maximum power gains."

Yes...in my car, running even higher boost than the default 16.5 (65 start boost) in the aggressive maps with 49/51 boost juice, my car logs perfect timing. Add with 75/25 meth there is no discernable HP increase. Maybe a couple on the dyno...but is that really worth the risk?

We don't know exactly what is causing all the fires...but it could be from fumes, leaky WW neck filler caps, leaky lines from the WW tank to the pump, etc.

FYI: Just went to Home Depot to look for Methanol and they had no idea what I was talking about. I couldn't find it either.

You can get tulouine (sp?) from paint stores that is effectively 114 octane. Home Depot may have that, but they wouldn't have methanol. You can get meth at specialty auto/motorcyle performance stores.

Sorry no, just letting you know what you might be able to find at home depot (automotive related). I actually found temporary meth line there as well. It worked perfectly!

Be very careful with "temporary" meth line. Pressures are high and the hose must fit the fittings perfectly. Leaks can result in fire. The spec is usually Nylon 12 in 6mm x 1mm and 4mm x 0.75mm if you are using an Aquamist based kit like Vishnu. You can find it on Amazon.

Good point. I covered it with Howelton SS braided line until the real meth line was shipped to me. The temporary line was used only because I broke the filter that Vishnu supplies in their PWM kits.

In theory you shouldn't have a problem with boost juice even if a line did leak.

OP: You seem to be dead set on getting meth from a home depot or somewhere. Have you looked for a speed shop in your area? There has to be a speed shop who supplies meth near your home, work, or along the route. And I wouldn't be shocked if the home depot employees didn't know what methanol is.. most only know where basic items are located.

There really aren't any that I know of. I live in Southeast Alabama (stationed here, before you ask). There is an oil company in the town close to me but the lady on the phone says they only sell it by the 55 pound drum. I dont believe her, I'm gonna go up there and see what they can do.

I suppose I really don't know how scarce speed shops are in your area, but when you say southeast alabama, do you mean Mobile? If so, google search turns up "bobs speed shop," a place specializing in round track racing. Good shot they have it.
