Another freaking accident - with a high speed chase!

everybody on 45 is "high speed" or stuck in a traffic jam. i guess it is relative. i have been at 100 on 45 many times. not racing. just empty lanes and a quick burst for fun. the OP wasn't doing anything special. it is houston.

I CALL BS! No cop I know would ever advise you chasing (follow), they would just ask for the tag # and general direction.

Now the OP is getting criticized for pursuing and driving aggressively against someone who damaged his car and not wanting to take responsibility for it. The OP, in my opinion, did what he had to do. There have been other instances of hit and run stories on this forum as well, and those affected were not criticized.

I don't think the OP is being criticized for following as much as the dumbass cop who advised him to do so. That cop who advised a private citizen to engage in a potential volatile high speed pursuit was a total idiot and I'm positive was deviating from a normal policy of just giving plate number to cops and letting them take over.

Doing any type of high speed pursuit by a non leo is illegal. It doesn't matter what anyone tells you. If there was a fatality caused by the OP's pursuit he would be posting from the Harris County Jail. Please understand I am sympathetic to the OP, and I like to drive fast, but only when conditions permit. Weaving through traffic to pursue an idiot involved in a minor accident is both unnecessary and poor judgement.

yes, I understand. The point I was trying to make that whether it be spirited driving, "kill" stories, or pursuits, all are against the law. Hence my thought on hypocrisy where the OP is being criticized, while there are other stories on this forum of people doing illegal things.
