stainless steel brake line install?

How much would someone charge to install a set of SS brake lines to oem brakes? Would any old brake shop due or is this a difficult job? Maybe dealer would do it?

Why dont you just ask someone who installs them and you'd have your answer?

Not to sound like a dick dude but a drive to a local brake shop wouldnt hurt you..

My dealer did mine at the same time as a fluid flush for higher temp fluid. I provided the lines and fluid. Think it was 200 bucks.

It's a pretty simple DIY project, just got to bleed the brakes to get all the air out when you're done. Any shop could do it.

90 percent of answers and questions on this forums can be found otherwise but that is the point of the forum to get info without seeking it out elsewhere. I also was wanting to know if the dealer would install non-oem brake lines.

My dealer will install whatever you want just takes money. As someone above said it can be done yourself also but I didn't really want to mess with it.

I agree! I do not mind a challenge but messing with my brakes is something I just am not going to do. I am not confident in my skills to risk it!

Cool the dealer is what I was hoping for. Is it worth the feel and change?

I'd say about 3 labor hours is a reasonable estimate for labor on the job. 1/2 hour per corner for the actual line install and one hour to bleed the brakes properly.

Wow, that seems like an overly long estimate. 30mins to replace one line? One hour to bleed? That's crazy talk.

The actual work can be performed much faster, of course, but the OP was looking for an estimate of what to expect when calling a shop. 3 hours with a full bleed is about going rate, from my experience.

3 hours is actually what the dealer lists for that job. It shouldn't take that long but I also had the challenge kit which has 6 lines not 4 and they charged me for less than 2 hrs labor. I went to the track about a week after having it done and with heavy use I felt the pedal was firmer for sure and also more consistent feel throughout the day. Made it easier for me to modulate braking and get consistent results. More precise I would say. If you don't track I doubt you will notice it with street use.

All six lines plus flushing the system out. We would charge 3 hours for the job at the shop.

The rear mid lines are a PITA! You should invest in a long 11mm that can be bent like an "L".

I probably spent half my time on those rear inner lines. With the bleeding 3 hours seems reasonable to me. If you use a good independent shop that charges by the hour and has done the job a few times, they might do it in less.

I hate paying 2-3 times in labor what the parts cost. To me, the more DIY that I do, the more money I have for mods. I have not paid a shop in years for anything other than an alignment.
