OEM Tire Lottery

So my new 2012 E93 vert came with Pirelli P Zero's - guess I didn't win the OEM tire lottery (hoping for PS2's). What's the general experience with PZ's?

Here is the general consensus in ranking.
1. Michelin
2. Pirelli
3. Conti
With #'s 2 and 3 being interchangeable depending on who you talk to.

I like my P-zeros...

Seems like the Michelin's are considered the best all around tire... P-zeros seem to be very good performance wise but wear seems to be an issue.

I have about 9k on my tires and I say I will likely get to to 15k before I need a change, I am well above 50% tread on my fronts and rears. Mostly highway driving for me...

I don't like the p-zeros that came with mine. I'll probably sell them soon and get some pss and maybe new wheels. The only thing I like about the p-zeros is that they aren't bad in rain.

Who cares? They're all ultra high performance summer tires...how many of you are actually taking your cars to the track after pick up? PS2s are not exactly great track tires

I think if you got the Pirelli or Michelin then you're ahead of the game.

Bummer! Your car has to see rain. That's what my 02 Explorer is for....winter and any day with the threat of rain.

FWIW I have Conti and will probably change when done. I mostly baby my ride though so I'm not sure I'll even notice the difference.

When I drive my m3 I usually travel far so I don't have a choice other then drive through rain. I have a 1999 Nissan altima for when I do.

Why not driving the M3 in the rain? Does it not have a roof? You'd be surprised how good the M3 handles bad weather (rain or snow, well not heavy snow of course) with proper tires.

Huh? Why not drive in the rain, it's a performance car not a collectible. I drive mine in rain and snow with no problems. Just wax it once in awhile and drive with proper tires and enjoy.

Gets it dirty too quickly. I don't have a lot of time to wash my car and I like being able to wash it regardless of what the weather is and if it rains just keeping it nice and dry in the garage.

Crossing fingers for the PSS. I'm going to ask my SA which ones' I got as soon as the car comes in...and if I get the Pirelli's or Conti's, I'm going to switch them out and sell them before I log more than 100 miles on them. PSS are just that good all around.

You're from BC so I am sure you know how hectic Calgary winters can get, I drive mine all year around and it is far superior to the NON-M xDrive I had previously. Also, saw a new M5 at the stealer and it had PSS tires on it, maybe the newer E9X M3 owners will have that in their lottery as opposed to PS2's now?

Here are a couple of pictures from last winter.. Wouldn't have it any other way.

This was after the biggest snow-storm we had last winter, drove it through it with no issues except for really minor slippage for about 1/2km (could be cos the tires were fresh).

Sorry OP, hope this doesn't seem like thread jacking but I hate seeing misinformed people.

There is a huuuuuge difference between the contis and PSS that I have now. The car feels more secure going around corners and there is no slippage under heavy acceleration.

BMW make a great car, and yes the M3 can be driven in the snow but I'd rather just use my hybrid for when being stuck in traffic or in the snow bc otherwise I'm going to be getting horrible MPG and bending my wheels (on the streets of DC aka the surface of the moon) and not be having any fun.

BTW my e46 M3 was black on black, I still love that color combo.

As long as you don't get the Conti's you win!

On the track the best of the 3 is the pirellis, but for the street I prefer the michelins. The conti's are.... well they're conti's

FYI I got the Pirellis thank goodness!
