What to bring on road trip in the M?

Hey all,

I placed a deposit on an M3 all the way down in Tampa, FL and will be flying down from jersey to pick it up. I need some advice on what to bring with me, but keep in mind I will be flying down and it will be my first drive in the E92. I can't bring many liquids because of the TSA regulations so I will be shipping detailing products down to the owner and he will hold them until I arrive (I'm a detailer, and that was quite the large order going down there lol)

So far I have this, please let me know what else to consider/add:
1) Detailing Products
2) Blue and Green 3M Painters Tape
3) 2 Quarts of Castrol Motorsports 10W-60
4) BMW M Mobility Kit
5) Flat Tire Fix

Thanks guys

Don't see much of a point to detailing the car just to drive it all the way back. I would just wait on that til you got home.

Does the car not have the mobility kit already?

It's not a detail there, it's basically a backup for all the bugs that get on the car or road tar and such

The roads are a blood bath, I URGE you to cover the entire front of the car and drive with HUGE amounts of space, if possible, schedule a clear-bra or something then drive it up... 95N is hell if you are not protected and leave a lot of space, be aware of construction zones.

Not to mention the border of NC and VA -watch out for cops, over 80 in NC or VA can land you in jail. And the construction in VA and NJ, YIKES.

Otherwise, enjoy, the M3 mechanically will be perfect.

Definitely the oil!!! I drove mine from PCD to Dallas (1100 miles) with a slow leak from the filler cap. 10w60 is impossible to get, except at a BMW dealer, and they'll be closed and 100+ miles away when you need it.

I did the painters tape too, it spared me from any chips/bug damage. Looked goofy as hell though.

Yeah I was reading a thread about 10 things you should know about your M3 and it said the M3 will surprise you with the low oil light out of nowhere when you're miles away from any bmw dealer after hours. Love hate relationship

Yeah I'm familiar with the road lol. There's a stretch of 95 in VA where the speed limit is 75, I remember hitting 90 on it for a little and was really sketched out because VA is scary. Especially if I'll be driving up with 5% tints and no plates

Totally. My indicator came on at 7am on a Sunday morning in Montgomery AL, about 500 miles from home. It's like the M3 knew it was impossible for me to get any oil

Yeah, I figured I couldn't possibly go through two quarts of oil so might as well bring it lol I would hate to have to deal with that on my maiden voyage home

Have to second the oil thing. Mine absolutely does NOT drink oil, but the one time I did need it, was out of state and was a Sunday... Murphy's law

Gas card and oil....1 bottle for sure!

Take the time to enjoy the drive...that's for sure!

Bringing the tape and detailing products is a crack up though.

cover the front bumper/leading edge of hood/side mirros/etc... you'll run into love bugs in central florida, and they are killer on paint.
