Can anyone tell what cars are these?

Hi all,

My buddy sent me this pic that he took while driving (I know, I know) home yesterday. But I dun have a clue what brand/model are these and I looks to me that those tires don't fit at all (forgive my ignorance). Does anyone know?

Yep. Thought about one of these a few years back. Very cool looking but I have zero need for one.
They used to be speced with BMW diesel motors.

IIRC, they had a package where you could help them build the car at their place then take it to the dunes out back when you were done... Was such a cool deal. Two people package. I have to wait about 10 more years for my son to be of age though... Hope they are still around then.

I just did some research and apparently you have to purchase one to be eligible to participate the "Local Motors Build Experience", and it seems like you have to build your own car. According to Popular Machines "...For Local Motors, involving customers is both a requirement—since the Fighter doesn't meet all federal crash requirements, it can't legally be sold as a completed car—and a way of self-select in enthusiastic buyers who'll feel an affinity for the company and their own cars..."

So as long as this company is still selling them it won't be too late :P
