30,000 mile service

I'm due for my 30,000 mile service soon, still under warranty. Exactly what will the dealership be doing?

should do spark plugs, rear diff fluid, oil change, filter change, wiper blades, cabin filters, possibly tranny fluid all depending on last time it was done. i had all this done at 22k before i went of warranty.

The maintenance minder told you to go in for service at 22,000 miles? Mine is indicating a service at 30,000 miles.

my key read told the SA i could have these things done at that mileage before my warranty went off so i did it. its based on type of usage as far as i know. also got a set of new pads which i took off the next day for my track pads.

Interesting..my SA and mechanic at BMW both told me the trans fluid is lifetime and never gets replaced. If they drain it for a repair, they reuse it.

Just had my 30k service too, and spark plugs weren't done.

Tranny fluid is the only item on that list they didn't do for me.

It's "lifetime" for DCT, not 6MT.

you also have to remember that this was done at my fifth oil change so that may have had something to do with it also. it had the 1200 miles in march 08, oil in 09, 10,11, and 12. also got several sets of brake pads during this time and brake fluid flush twice. once paying for high temp fluid myself and the addition of challenge stainless lines.

Same here, about 1000 miles left for service. The bulletin says the spark plugs change at 37000 miles. so probably this service they will change since i think next one will be 45k.
It would be great if someone with information could chip in and provide a list of items.

My brake pads are also due service in 10k miles do they change it if we make a request. I vibrates alot as you hit the brakes.

They probably won't replace the pads if its saying 10K until due. My fronts after the counter is reset only shows 9K probably due to higher use with the track. I was told I had warped rotors and had terrible shudder. After switching to track pads and using them very hard all my shudder is gone so was pad transfer not warpage as they tried to tell me. They woudnt replace rotors even though they said they were warped because they were still above minumun thickness and I suspect the same answer will occur with the pads.

Thanks...seems like there isn't any real consistency here. Everybody seems to be getting different things done at 30,000 miles.

Just had a vehicle inspection done at 29k. Had oil, diff fluid, and spark plug change. they wouldn't change the wipers!

That's dumb, every time I go in they seem to want to change wiper blades.

Well I just got back from my 30,000 mile service. Apparently the 30,000 mile service only includes a computer diagnostic...that's it.

I was due up for an oil change in 2600 miles. When I come back for the oil change service, I'm told that will also include new spark plugs, rear differential fluid change, and cabin filter.

I did request new windshield wipers for my 30,000 mile service, and I got them. I don't even think it has been a year since my last free pair.

Wiper blades are replaced one year to the date of the last set. some dealerships do it as a courtesy, but BMW will not cover the expense of the blades for them.

They just did a air filter, oil change and oil filter. Asked about spark plugs and they said not till 37k. Looked in the service manual and didn't say how often manual trans need the fluid or diff changed. Anyone have any input on this?
