Steering shaking 50mph+
Got the car used. From day one steering jerks left to right back n forth. Took it to dealer and they said i had a minor cuppig on the tires which is the cause. I then got hew rims and tires. Still shakes and jerks back n forth. I took it to get alignmen and same issue still exist. So today i went to get te new wheels and tirees rebalanced at a different shop. Shop said they are at ero which means its good. But same issue is there. What is wrong with my car? What else could be causing this??

Did you have the wheels and tires road force balanced or just a regular balance? This suspension design is very sensitive to tiny imbalances in the front wheel and tire.

Just regular balance at america's tire. They are pretty reputable wheel and tire shop across the country. I am not familiar with road force balanced. Whats the difference?

I get crud (sand, dirt, and other junk) collecting inside the drum of my wheels, and it doesn't seem all that evenly distributed. If such a high-precision balance were needed just for 50 mph speeds, then it seems this sort of buildup would throw the balance way off, at higher speeds. If you were talking about 150+ mph, then I could absolutely buy the idea of a high-precision balance. But 50 mph? Doesn't sound right. |

If the steering wheel is shaking at 50MPH, you can pretty much rule out that it is not because the wheels aren't road force balanced. This balancing technique becomes apparent at 78-85MPH, not at 50MPH.
If the tires have been replaced, and the problem still persists, I suggest you look into the wheels first to see if they are possibly bent. If the wheels are in good condition, then we must begin to look at suspension hardware. You may have a bad ball joint, wheel bearing. It will not be your brakes, that will only cause vibration or judder when actually braking, not under normal cruising conditions. After it has been diagnosed correctly, I strongly suggest an alignment. A poor alignment can really ruin a car from both perspectives: driving experience & mechanically. Malek

Got my car road balanced. Turns out right side was 0.5 oz off. The shaking is 90% gone. There is still very very slight shimmy around 75mph but barely noticeable. Thnx guys! You guys are awesome.
