BEARINGS! 65k

I'm having my Bearings replaced with VAC coated units and ARP fasteners. I was curious to see how the factory ones are doing. I was pleasantly surprised to find that after 65k miles the factory bearings were in pretty good shape considering.
MAN, what a load off my mind!

Its nice to see a happy story on here I think... I was always paranoid because of all the horror stories on the forums... Thats what the forums are for I guess... showing off and complaining!

Thank you for posting up. It really helps to get a more accurate feel for the percentages of engines actually impacted.

I wish more people (with both worn and not so worn) bearings would post up!

Yes, it is great to see a set of preventatively maintenanced bearngs that looked decent when removed. Unfortunately, there have been only a few that looked decent. The vast majority do not.

That's why at 117K miles, I have absolutely no intentions of wasting my money on coated bearings from the exact same manufacturer as oem. Great to see someone have the guts to show his clean looking oem bearings, to help dispel some of the internet hype. This continues the trend of coating companies showing pictures of horrible bearings, while individual members are showing clean bearings.

Op's bearings would go for another 65K .
Good to see there are good ones too , because most look like 5H1T once removed .

Let's hope the ones being replaced don't fuck things up

looks pretty darn good for your mileage. i pulled some out of an 09 with 27k and they displayed much more wear than yours with a bearing showing copper.

So what may be the first set of decent looking bearings we have seen proves there is no problem?

this heated up!

I did oil changes around 5k-6k not overly protective at all.

I drive pretty spirited. Mainly canyon carving. I commute 50 miles a day....

Theres some info on my driving. I friend of mine purchased his M with 24k and went to one track day and had bearing failure. That wasn't reassuring.... I'm very confident in my engine now. I was battling Bearing anxiety.. I'm happy thats gone.

Your anxiety should be over, when you verify that your new bearings were installed correctly (Torqueing specs). Say in about 30K miles from now.

Word, I'm still confused about which rod bolts to use. It is said OE bolts are the best, but everyday I see new bearings/ARP bolts installed threads popping up.
