e93 vs e92?

My buddy just got 08 vert m3 I felt it was powerful but expected it to have more power. I cannot find a definite answer as to how much faster the e92 over the e93 is in terms of 0-60 and quarter mile

The e93 runs a 13.1 at 109 while the e92 runs a 12.4 at 113. The extra 450 lbs in the e93 obviously affects it pretty significantly.

Okay. Sure. Agreed.

But the wind at 109 feels faster than being covered at 113.

When one wants a cabriolet, is there really any other choice than an M3? No. No, there's not.

Where'd you get 12.4? I found the same 13.1 on Car and Driver, but 12.7 for the coupe?

Anyway, the coupe is definitely faster. Something like 2 tenths 0-60, faster quarter mile, and in a track test the e90 and e92 were about the same, and the e93 was about two seconds / lap slower.

None of which matters when you drop the roof and step on the gas

Cheers

Per official US spec
difference between E92 and E93 0-60 is 0.4 seconds
E92 is 4.7 (4.5) 6MT (DCT)
E93 is 5.1 (4.9) 6MT (DCT)

i wonder what the 0-60 time is for an E93 with the top down vs top up

I think is something like for every 100lbs heavier the car is, it's a tenth of a second slower in 1/4 mile.

Or maybe it's for every 100lbs you shed off your car (weight reduction), you'll also she'd a tenth of a second off your time.

This is what I heard when I had my e46, everyone was really into weight reduction then.

The e93 is an oinker...400+ lbs of assorted hard top vert parts..why would you be concerned about how fast it is?

So what technical aspects would you like to discuss.the vert is heavier and obviously slower..if you bought it for speed you bought the wrong car..

I've read through this entire thread. There is one factor that has not been taken into consideration. As any E93 driver will attest, the time from picking up a chick in the E93 to her top coming down is 1.2s faster in the E93. E93 -FTW!!

This is the post to the track test mentioned...

http://www.m3post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=628566

DCT e93 was two seconds a lap slower than a DCT e92, but it was faster than the e60 m5.

That two seconds between DCT M3s is interesting because that doesn't leave much room for a 6MT e92 which is likely at least a second slower than the DCT e92 but reputed to be faster than a DCT e93.

So then the e93 is within a second of the 6mt e92 and the e60 m5 on either side, which is pretty respectable company.

I'm sure this will enrage both the e92 and the 6mt crowd who love to point to that 3.9 0-60 car and driver number every time this subject comes up, which we all know is an anomaly within published m3 performance test data and not a number that is being routinely put-down by unmodified cars/drivers from this forum.
