I believe he sold his car...?

If you guys are interested in the exhaust, try contacting imran@evolveautomotive.com

I am personally thinking about getting the XPipe first, then eventually getting the E-Tronic Muffler.

...sorry...I'm very late on this one, as I stumbled over it looking at other stuff.

1st -- hilarious, and very informative writeup!

I have a similar system on my E46 M3, and it makes me laugh (often maniacally) with the system open. When the valve is closed, it sounds pretty much stock, with a hint of leakage you can hear under light throttle. For the S54 motor, it really has a very unique sound. 3-5k rpm is fairly boomy-bassy sound, then transitioning to a banshee-like metallic wail up to 8k.

Similar to the writeup, when I first uncorked it, and got on the gas, it sounded like being pursued by a DTM race.

Having this on my E46, makes driving my E92 M3 (for sale, by the way), a bit sonically-underwhelming, though it still sounds pretty nice.

It's funny, but I've been thinking that BMW should include this on all M-cars as standard, and if I read some of the press-releases correctly, they will be doing this starting with the M4. The Nurburgring test videos sure sound like a more open exhaust than standard, so maybe that was the "open valve" sound?
