BMW M8 concept sketch

Hi guys, some of you may have seen the 2015 m3 concept I've posted few weeks ago : http://www.m3post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=159109

It was a lot of fun to develop and some of you seemed to enjoy the exercise so I decided to go on and work on a new concept...

Introducing the all-new BMW M8…The ultimate driving machine.

Engines

Featuring the world’s first 24 cylinders engine. This bi-V12 quad-turbocharged engine delivers features the all-new DCM (Dynamic Cylinder Management) system allowing better fuel efficiency. With its 1620 hp and it’s 1460 ft-lbs torque, this Hydrogen powered engine is capable of accelerating from 0 to 100 km/h in only 1.96 seconds establishing a new world record in front of the Bugatti Veyron (quoted at 2.46 seconds). The M8 set a new standard as the world’s first production car to go under the 2 seconds bar in the 0-100 km/h. Top speed is electronically limited at 455 km/h.

Traction system

Dynamic xDrive is also a new feature on the M8. This allows multiple uses of both engines. The first engine concentrates on propulsion while the second engine can be allocated either to the rear or to the front. You can engage all wheels drive at a click of a button when weather conditions require it. The second engine can also be shut down for fuel efficiency purposes.

Transmission

The all-new TCT (Triple Clutch Transmission) system is also a breakthrough. It features both the all-new 8-speed M DCT system as well as a 7-speed manual transmission. Whether you want the total control of your car with the 7-speed manual transmission or you want to bring the car on the racetrack with the extremely fast 8-speed M DCT system, you’ve got both of best worlds.

Brakes

BMW Motorsport and Brembo teamed up to bring the worlds’ first dual 8 pistons calipers systems on the M8. A total of 64 pistons are working together to make the car decelerate from 100km/h to complete stop on a distance of only 63 ft. This brake system is completely made out of carbon fiber allowing better heat resistance while reducing the weight of the car.

Lighting

6 Adaptive Xenon lights (AXL) are used on the M8. 2 allocated to high beams, 2 allocated to low beams and 2 allocated to fog lights. These clever lights constantly analyze the road and can move left/right as well as up/down to illuminate what’s ahead. Every other lights on the M8 (taillights, side markers, license plate lights, interior lights) are powered by Light-Emitting Diodes (LED).

Weight

Extensive use of carbon fiber (parts of front and rear bumpers, hood, roof, trunk, dash, interior trim, engine, transmission and suspension) made possible to achieve the incredible lightweight of only 1416 lbs with the tires and the tank full of Hydrogen.

The all-new BMW M8…When supercar is not enough.

I like it, i like how you incorporated the M1 design cues into this. Im not too fond of the 6 series styled headlights though....

isn't the new 8 series (based on concept CS) supposed to be a 4 door coupe?

1620 hp and 1460 ft-lbs torque weighing at 1416 lbs including tires and the tank full of Hydrogen... that would be interesting!

Height to length ratio is too short for a 8 series.

And wow, 2 brake calipers for each wheel? 3 intake vents on the rear quarters. When was the last time BMW ever made a mid-engined car? I think the M1 is the only one they EVER made, 1978-1981.

2 engines, 6 headlights, 8 piston brakes, TCT? Give this to BMW's redundancy department of redundancy.

Might as well add a 120mm cannon lol. Nice sketch though, I find the rims very attractive.

Hehehehe...You guys seems not feeling it at all! it's fine...I can understand why. I would need an engineer here to help me out figuring realistic hi-end specs....those specs are to 3015 AD. I had fun sketching it though!

Hey, it's good. I wish I had even 1% of your artistic ability. I think the front of that car is a bit too high, but I couldn't do anything near what you have done. I'd hate to see what Bangle and his crew would do with that engineering marvel that you have outlined.

Maybe they'll find a way to make us live a few thousand years so that we can all be around in 3015. But by then I want a car that flies into outer space.

And with a price tag of 2.5 mil Euro, BMW sucessfully sold zero. Unless BMW resurrect some ancient brand that can command this astronomical price, they are going to sell none.

Not bad. Looks kind of like a Tiburon, though, IMHO.

+1 on the excellent drawing skills.

Thanks! Yes, the 2 at the top are for the engine and the one at the bottom is for brakes

If BMW can sell a 7 series loaded with features with a V12 engine for 150 000 USD....I don't see why they couldn't build a supercar smaller in size with 2 V12 engines for 250 000 USD. No need for re-branding, Mercedez sells car from 20 000 USD to 450 000 USD and their formula seems to work pretty well.

Very nice drawing and 'fantastic' technical systems, the weight though I find a bit too low(understatement) With 1620BHP it should accellerate in less than 1 second from 0-100kmh.
