M3 vs C63 sales data

Thought some of you might find interesting how E9x M3 sales stacked up against the C63. Here is a chart I put together.

P.S. Obviously you can't compare wagon to a convertible, but since BMW doesn't make a wagon M3 and Mercedes doesn't make a convertible C63 I just put them together for simplicity.

Interesting! Are you able to pull more data, for instance how many E90 ZCP it was out of the 9600?

Thanks

I don't think the above data sources contain the ZCP numbers broken out. I've only seen actual numbers on E46 ZCP but not on the E9x.

This data is skewed...
What is missing is the omission of larger cognitive capacity for the M3 owners thus resulting in an increase of 20 base points in functionate IQ

Cool I did not know that data had been added. So 5870/15799 = 37% of all North America E92s are ZCP. That's a bunch. Also 1220/5867=21% of E90s.

Confirms the popularity of the option package likely driven by the wheels and relatively low cost $2900.

Many thanks!

The C63 was cheaper than the M3 in Canada. Whereas the C63 was about the same price as the M3 in the USA.

I think that explains why the numbers are pretty even in Canada. In the US, the M3 outsells the C63 3.5 to 1.

Given that the E9x M3 was the same price as the C63 in the US, can't figure out why true driving enthusiasts would ever choose the C63.

When I went shopping for a new car in 2013 my first choice was Audi S5 but I loved the styling of the C63 coupe. Neither was available with manual transmission. That left me with the hot rod Cadillac or an M3. Test driving the dealer's new M3 with less than 100 miles (and DCT) was not that impressive but the choice was still obvious. Had to special order but it was worth the 8 week wait.
I so made the right decision. At 46,000 miles my baby loves to sing those upper octaves.

No one cross shops the M3 with the Volt. Everyone at one point thought about the C63 before buying the M3.

Bitch please. If your cognitive capacity was so large, your occupation would have you choosing the daily driver from a selection of a Ferrari F12 Berlinetta, a 458 Italia, or an Aston Martin DBS.

With an FF hatchback for the wife; Ferrari makes those, too..........plus a Rolls Royce Wraith in the garage for Sundays.

But nooooo. Your broke ass is driving a 65K M3 and talkin' mega sh--. Brilliant!!

27,000 M3s / 256 Million Cars in the U.S. That's 0.0001 M3s per car in the U.S.! So for every 10,000 cars you see you'll see 1 M3, give or take.

In comparison Ferrari in six years in the U.S. has sold 19,000 ish (Source:Ferrari Chat) 458s. So 19000/256 Million - 0.00007 - So for every 14,285 cars you'll see one 458.

These are obviously averages but just goes to show how rare these cars really are. So depending on the demographic of your town if you live in a town of 50,000 people there are likely 5 M3s and 4 458s.

If you couldn't tell, I like math.
