Next production month is June?

Hi Folks,

My SA sends me this email today after I inquired about my order. Is this information correct?

-----
According with my new car sales manager. You have the last order for a M3
The next production month will be in June .
We will not be taking any more orders for now.
I will keep you posted once I get more information.
-----

I placed an order for the E92 3 weeks back or so. Can't believe it takes so much time. At this rate, I will end up waiting until August to take delivery.

Sorry folks ... bumping this once and for the final time.

Does this sound reasonable to you? Has anyone recently placed a factory order? And if so, what is the delivery time horizon mentioned to you?

Thanks!

I placed an order for my M3 near the end of Feburary (before the announcement of an additional year of M's of course) and was told it would be available begining/mid May.

Sounds about right. Btw, congrats on the purchase!

Sounds to me like that is the last slot the dealership has available which is coming up in June. It may be another dealer could get built sooner if this is your real question.

June will be a big month for BMW... most of their line up will end MY2012 production that month. And it seems that they started earlier with the M3 and the 7-Series in particular as they are not currently taking orders for those already.

There is a rumor of a change/update to the Competition Package, but zero facts. And no guarantee that any changes would come to the N. American model.

It could easily be accurate. It's not necessarily the case that a June slot is the first allocation your dealer has had since you ordered, it could just be the first AVAILABLE allocation he has, i.e. other people came in before you and used up all of your dealer's slots between now and June on their ordered cars. I submitted the paperwork for my car and got an allocation that went into production 3 weeks later; it all depends on how many people are ordering cars.

Thanks all for the replies. So looks like I have to basically wait a while from what you all have said. It seems weird to me that there is no transparency in this process. The dealer could make me wait arbitrary amounts of time, and I wouldn't know anything was wrong ...

I have a question: What is MY2013? Should I push my production date to later? Will the car then be considered a 2013 model instead of a 2012 model?

Thanks all again for the replies ...
