Normally, I would say Cayman R. However, I think buying a Cayman R would be a mistake, given that the new Cayman's are on their way.

The GT3/rs is one of my dream cars as well, but, I think if you wait, there will be a steady decline in pricing to the point that waiting 1 year, without 'saving' can provide benefits since the GT3 will depreciate faster with 991s on the showroom floor.

The M3 tends to spoil people, you get the best of many worlds. While it is absolutely NOT a good idea to daily drive a GT3RS, you should really think seriously about how you plan to use this next car. Dedicated 'fun' car, or mostly a daily driver.

Leaving reality aside, I would say, you only live once. Go buy the Orange GT3RS today, and stop waiting for tomorrow.

$93k for the RS is a fantastic deal. wish I could have picked it up for that price when I was Porsche shopping. does it have CPO? if it does it's an even better deal

Maybe, you can sell the M3, buy a very cheap commuter car and then go for the P car.
You are right about the need for a DD, probably with either car for me. I have a lot of gear I need to carry around at times, and neither car offers much storage space. NOT that that is a concern, just an observation.

I would agree, but I haven't even gotten into the details yet as its probably premature.

I keep thinking about it though

That won't satisfy my itch, just delay it for a while. Still, its not a bad idea...

Both are special cars, but the widebody RS is extra special. Get what you want (if you can afford it of course).

I keep finding them also when I can't afford at this point. There was just a local 2012 gt3 rs in white with graphics removed that had 1300 miles or something ridiculous. I wanted to run over and trade my m3, x5 and gf for it but still didn't have enough.

I think it's funny that nobody has tried to talk him off the ledge. This is an M3 enthusiasts forum. Apparently when something shinier and racier comes along, poor lil' M3 gets the no love laufpass!

Get the Cayman R first then swing for the fences on the GT3 later. The R will hold it's value better than the RS. IMO the RS isn't worth the extra money. For RS money I'd wait for the 997.2 GT3 to fall in striking distance.

I like my Ms but love my 911s.

Tell you what...let me know when you'll be here and maybe we can have an exchange day! In fact, I am friendly with some guys at the local racetrack and I might be able to arrange to track time

You can play, but you'll have to be Ramathorn on account of your swarthy complexion... And you're right. Asking this bunch of enablers is like asking a heroin junkie to help you resist stealing grannies jewelry for your next fix!

I'm not sure about the Cayman holding better value, but you may be right. The 2007 is the car. I don't care about the updated version. its THE grail car. Maybe I'll care after I have the first one
