Thumbs up Had first Track event today! M3 is a great car!

I just finished the first track event in my life with my M3 today! I had AA full exhaust system with AA ECU and AA air filter. I ran four 30mins sections with one hour between. Since this is my first time, I wasn't push it too hard, and I am listening to my instructor the whole time. I passed lots of people in my Novice group! I think most of them except my friend's EVO which has 400+WHP. Our car with stock suspension and brake hold up great. And yes, stock brake fade started on my last two sections but I still able to finish it. No POWER STEERING FLUID overheat. Weather is about 75F.

Overall, Great first time experience in M3!

props. Glad to hear you had a great time. Did you change your brake fluid or use track pads? If so, share details.

I just think its quite expensive to track a M3..I burned my rear tires. I think after another autox or track day, those are gone....

Think the track is really where you can appreciate the all around nature of this bad ass ride. Welcome to the party

HAHA~LOVE IT! I think I really need a race seat. Cuz I was everywhere during the turn. DO you think RECARO pole positon with stock seat belts good enough? or I need a six points one.

You can try what I do with my stock seats and seatbelt:
Bring your seat back a good amount... Lock your seat belt by pulling on it quickly and hold it so it stays locked. Then bring your seat forward back to your regular position. You'll be stuck in place. It takes a few tries, but it helped a good amount.

That's what I do too. Works great. I'm locked in tight. No mo' sliding around the seat.

+2 on using the inertia lock. I like to dial in a "track postion" with the memory, then recline and slide back, lock the inertia lock, then recall your preset.

Another cheap alternative I do when I'm instructing is to twist the seatbelt before I click it in.

There's also a G-lock, but I think they would shred your flesh in an accident. I'd reserve them for autox only.

You don't need a racing bucket or harnesses (yet). Just wait until you get some sticky tires under you, then start thinking about seats/harness/roll bar.

After one more autox, I will put on AD08~ I just want to know is that a way to put harness without adding a bar in the rear. I don't need to worry about my rear capacity. If a bar is a must. I will just take out rear seat cuz nobody sits there

My answer would be no. Everything short of a real roll bar/cage with harness and fixed back seat is really just worse than the factory designed safety. You're looking for a better way to stay in the seat...and the above techniques are the ones you should use for now.

As for AD08, they're a good street tire, but nothing near the grip of a r compound or slick. That's when you will be hanging on to the wheel and need better restraints.

You got that right. My knees are about worn out, faster than my tires

SO basically when I put on race tires, I should add harness? I prefer to run track on good street performance tires like AD08 and PSS.
