It just feels like 2 just came out... I know it didn't, but it feels like it. You shouldn't have to buy a "new" product every year.

Relevant fact... they started testing iPads before iPhones... and then someone in a board meeting posed the question "What if we made this into a phone instead?"

somewhat along these lines...Some of my coworkers and I were saying that a few years from now, Apple will release an iPad mini and everyone will think its so awesome that they were able to make an iPad so small.

The current iPad 2 is adequate, so it's not like you need to buy a new product every year.

I've had my Macbook Pro for over 2 years now, and it's sufficient. I plan to keep my iPad 2 for a while as it's sufficient as is.

My iPhone, however, I change every year as it's profitable for me to do so

I may pick one up as I'll be heading off to college next year and my scholarships will help pay for goodies like a mac, so I'll probably pick up an iPad and the next iPhone too(2yr contract expires!)

I tend to go with "every other generation" on the Apple products (iPhone and iPad). If I had just an iPad1, I'd upgrade to iPad3. But I've got iPad1 and iPad2, don't really need iPad3 unless I unload one of the others.

I do basically the same as I type on my iPad 1, I don't plan to upgrade.

Ordered one, the 4g should be faster than my home internet connection. I have a six year old 17" PowerBook and a three year old iMac. Both work fine, but the old laptop has been phased out with operating systems and Office, etc, so the iPad should be a more than suitable replacement, and I can still get a few hundy for that old thing to offset the price of the new iPad.

I'm sticking with my iPad 2, I did upgrade the software though and am loving the new iMovie!!.. after watching the keynote, yes I watched it all, I don't think it's worth the upgrade if you already have the 2 for these reasons:

-I honestly cant tell the difference between the display on my iPhone 4s and the display on my iPad 2, so I don't have much interest with the new retina display

- my current iPad is only wifi.. I use it at home and for travelling.. so I dont have much interest for the 4g either

-camera is very impressive, but when you have a 8mp phone and a dslr I wouldn't want to be hauling the iPad to get a shot

-I am perfectly satisfied with the way porn looks on my iPad 2.. sorry but everyone is thinking it, I had to say it

Everyone has their own reasons, so whoever did preorder one congrats!

I wish it was coming out this week instead of next, as I would have loved to take it on my deployment. I do plan on getting the iPad3, but not until I get back later this year. I'm looking forward to it, I really want to see that retina display. Thats the biggest seller for me, as I'm still rocking the iPad1. I skipped over the 2.

What iPad 3? This is the same thing as iPad 2 with a minor bump in specs..

Reminds me of the whole iPhone 5 being released but turns out to be only a 4s..

The retina display is the huge selling point here. Cannot wait to see that thing in person. I am a little bit annoyed about the front-facing camera not getting updated though. You would think since all these new Macs are getting the HD front cameras and with this new screen, that they would have increased it.

I also think they need to implement a new dock instead here soon instead of the old 30 pin. It's time.
