2012 Nav Map Update - Page 10

Spent a bit more time with the search feature and found a few interesting things.

The duplicate entries aren't a bug, more like duplicate "listings" based on the categories fields of each particular POI.
If you search for Dining and pick All, and input "Starbucks" in the search field. it'll show duplicate Starbucks. Why? Starbucks probably has their store listed under a few different categories.
Same goes for like Walgreens or CVS which may show up under 2 different categories (one for store, one for pharmacy etc). Their icons may also switch (in the case of Starbucks, it didn't)

I tried this with smaller mom and pop stores and listings only show 1 entry but some bigger franchise locations, you may end up with 2-3 listings back to back.

So all is good with 2012 map upgrade

Anybody upgrade from 2010 to 2012? If so, was it worth it?

Well my 2011.5 came with 2010 maps, though it was built on Nov 25th, 2010. I haven't noticed the duplicate entries, and I haven't found any issues, though I can say, I haven't really found anything new. I just did it because I have a need to keep my stuff up to date. LOL.

Apparently, mine also has 2010 maps so will update my previous post; thanks for the quick reply

I have the same compulsiveness, just curious if anybody has noticed any real differences so far between the two.

The duplicate entry that I seem to have researched was item displaying in different languages and I cannot narrow down if that's only the issue with the European map updates. So everyone that updated with North America map are okay?

Same here. I did notice that some roads are highlighted in red though.

Yep, a drive up PCH from LAX to NAS Pt Magu and back and I was done. One 2012 Nav update and a two-hour view of the Pacific Ocean

I tried to upgrade via USB and then via DVD but got to the same point.
