I've heard you can use a BMW Mini (the car) battery and save some weight....?

a lower cca battery will leave you stranded if the car isn't driven daily or weather is too cold. it's not worth it.

it's a shame that you have to get dealer to change battery. a battery is about $100-150 and bmw is screwing you for making you go to their dealers.

there are so many things on bmws that don't make sense - RF tires that wear out 2x faster, etc. I come from Porsche, Lambo, Ferrari and MB. I think BMW should focus on engineering for better reliability and safety.

UPDATE: I went with a Die Hard Advanced Gold battery and it fits in just fine. DIY is a little rough if you are by yourself as the batteries weigh a ton, and there's not much room. Especially with the wires and cables.

IMPORTANT: Just got off the phone with Bavarian Technic. You CANNOT reset the adaptation on M3's (and diesels). Kind of dissapointing because I listened to members and they never even tested this on M3's. You don't have the Command function if you pay attention. No ETA on when or if this will ever be implemented.
