Non i-Drive cubby removal help

Hi all,

I have a non i-drive center console question. In the i-Drive controller place is a plastic rubber lined cubby. I am about to receive an OEM CF console with the cutout and I was going to replace the i-Drive cubby/insert into the CF piece. I was looking at it last night and it sure looks like it's non-removable from underneath? Anyone have any experience with this? Thanks in advance.

I believe that you will have to take the center trim piece off, then you can take the pocket from the back of the trim. Maybe somebody that has done this can chime in?????

For anyone else who needs to do this, I decided to take it apart and post pics. Unfortunately, as the pictures reveal, the non-iDrive center cubby is plastic welded to the center console itself.

It's very odd why this part is like this, but the only way to get it apart was to break the one-time use pieces holding it into place. Pics are the best way to describe it, but there are locating nubs around the periphery of the cubby. When you try and remove it, they break away leaving you with plastic nubs flying all which way so wear glasses!

You can put it back, but it will no longer be a permanent fixture to the center console and it's a fairly tight fit afterwards. My CF console will be here tomorrow so I'll reuse this cubby.
