Completely Catless w/Stock Muffler?
I currently have a Fabspeed HFC + X-pipe setup up and was just curious if anyone has tried a completely catless (No primary + Secondary cats) setup with the stock muffler?
Would there even be any significant gains over my HFC + Xpipe setup? Getting bored with my current setup.... Any info would be appreciated! |

I'm about to do this, but judging by the few vids i found it kinda sounds funky. kinda raspy but not nice e46m raspy. what do you plan to use for cel? tune or akra delete-r?

No cats whatsoever with the stock exhaust... I tried it and it was horrible. It sounded like the muffler was blown out. So much rasp and so unrefined that I couldn't take off from a light without feeling like tasteless moron, bastardizing a classy sports car. I had to shift around 2k just to avoid the obnoxious farty sound that kicks in at 2k.
From outside it didn't sound as bad as it did inside. Inside all I could here was rasp as if the exhaust had no bass or mids. I was told some people like the sound so you have to try it. Here are my videos. I could not WOT because it would have been too loud and everyone would know it was me. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=K460ebaSSS8&feature=youtube_gdata_player http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JjvzmmsLLSg&feature=youtube_gdata_player |

If you run 4 resonators, it sounds fine.
As for significant gains from ditching high flow cats for no cats, I would have to study the dynos. If no cats is worth about 20-25 rwhp, I'll guesstimate that high flow cats drop the gains to 15-20 rwhp. |

Thanks for the replies guys!
As far as the CEL, I'll just buy a tune or try spacers first. Installing some resonators was an idea that crossed my mind but I think I will go ahead with it and see where it goes. But, if I were to install resonators, will placement of said resonators affect drone/sound? As far as exhaust, if the OE sounds like shiet, I could always put the AP exhaust back on or just go back to my fabspeed system

I'll just have to try it in steps! I plan on leaving the oe resonators on and then go from there.
