I'll take two. I love how the LED DRL's are incorporated into the turn signals instead of the front bumper like everyone else.

Supposedly it's been spotted testing at the Ring... No doubt they are trying to pass the Ringtime of their biggest rival the Camaro which did a 7:41 at the ring with the new ZL1.

I don't really like the looks of the Mustang but if it can outdo the Laptimes of the already fast ZL1 I would definitely love to have one.

I think I can bypass its looks if it can perform well outside of just drag strips.

The 2013 is gunning for the ZL1 on the track and the ZL1 kicks the crap out of our M3's on the track.

I'm pretty sure he was referring to the tracks that have corners. The new ZL-1 has shown to be very capable on a road course and I assume the 2013 GT500 will be as well.

You drove a 2013? If the 2013 GT500 is as fast as it appears it could be, it will be faster on all tracks... straight or cornered. The 2012 is a very comparable car pure performance wise and with the changes discussed here... well...

Maybe you should read up more on other cars besides the M3.

Just google and read up on the ZL1 and you will know what tracks I'm talking about.

NO way he drove a 2013. Not even magazines have had access to this yet.

The ZL1 had a had a day for car forums/magazines at VIR about 2 months ago and the first ZL1's hit customers hands only about 2 weeks ago.

The GT500 won't be given out to customers hands for a good 4+ months and I have read not ONE review of the 2013 because no one has driven it yet so I doubt he has.

The interior is very low rent, but according to Motor Trend, a 2011 Mustang GT completed a lap (at Willow Springs, I think) less than a tenth of a second behind a competition-package M3, with a pro driver handling both cars. With a magazine type behind the wheel, the Mustang was a half-second quicker than the bimmer. With the Brembo Pakage or, even better, the new-for-'13 Track Pack, you're not going to run out of brakes within four or five laps, either.

Combine that with similar quarter-mile performance and you've certainly got to give some props to the Ford. Yup, they absolutely play in different leagues and are not competitors, but that Ford is the first one in a long time that has me interested.

PS - My military son just traded his track car (2009 GTI) in on a Boss 302 LS, and my God, that thing is fast. He's been tracking it down in Texas and says (with respect) that M3s are just no problem at all. In fact, it's only breathed-on Porsches and exotics that can consistently get around him.

For me, the most impressive* thing about that car is that Ford actually specs different tires for the right rear and left rear - with differing prices.

Unbelieveable! I am torn between thinking "WTF WERE YOU GUYS THINKING?!!", or perhaps just saluting.

Again, props to Ford.

* OK, I admit my mind works in slightly strange ways. For another example, the most impressive thing for me about the SR-71 "Blackbird" Mach 3 miltary aircraft was that, parked on the ramp, it leaked fuel. That wasn't an unexpected thing, either.

Think about the engineering compromises that went into an aircraft that, more or less by design spec, leaked fuel when parked. I guess one can expect to give up a few things for performance.

That's the most impressive part of the M3, by the way. You give up very little for outstanding performance.

I love how everyone claims to have "driven" every other car they compare the M3 to and don't like as much... even ones not out yet It adds a lot of credibility to their argument as to why it isn't as good as the M3. Claims of having "driven" the other car on the internet are true maybe 50% of the time at most but it sure does make arguing a perspective easier when you have "experience" with both.

The boss 302 is already about an even competitor on the track with the m3. The new ZL1 and gt500 are a step ahead until the F30 comes out then we will see what's what again.
