I tried to sign up for the CCC the first two schools I registered for and both were cancelled due to low participation. I'm all for learning car control in a safe environment though. I would guess rush hour in inclement weather would be less eventful if more people did it.

Just bumping this thread to let y'all know what a fun weekend we had. Saturday morning was a bit of a cluster what with the pouring rain (good way to learn the basics of car control - smooth inputs), but the track dried out and we had a great time running drills, practicing rolling starts, etc. Sunday was even better with the sunshine. The Racing School was a blast and has me hooked on wheel-to-wheel.

llis, signes: My husband 'gave' me his car last night and he'll be transferring my seats & AST suspension into his car this week in preparation for NASA this weekend. I'll be time-trialing it (and practicing my qualifying strategies!) through a good portion of this season while we get the car sorted to my liking. Will likely be selling my E36...

Agree, it was a great two day event. Highly recommended to anybody considering it next year.

Which car are you getting?

Lot's of fun on Sunday in spite of not getting my track brake pads installed the night before. This was my fourth track day, first time in the A group, and first time I had to let a faster car pass me. The third session was a blast playing chase with Alison. The Advan AD08 tires I just put on were great. Unfortunately I ran out of fuel and forgot to fill up before the fourth session. I'm going to have to start bringing a fuel container to get me through the last session and back to Byers from now on.

I think I'm ready for a track tire and wheel setup! Any suggestions?

^ M, Glad to hear that you like the Advan AD08s! Another fan! I used them all day Saturday (morning sessions in rain, afternoon sessions dry to mostly dry)

Wheels:
18x10 Apex ARC-8s would work for you. Don't get an expensive track wheel, that's silly, as you need to replace them every, say, 4-5 years, depending on how much you use them, maybe even less if you use them a lot.

Tires:
http://www.tirerack.com/tires/tires....R8R6&tab=Sizes &

Or if you want to save money from the Hoosiers and buy food for starving kids instead... http://www.tirerack.com/tires/tires....4C51&tab=Sizes I really like these, almost as sticky as the Hoosiers but a lot less.

BTW, I think you should go square, and save some tire $ (buy more food for those kids)

Thanks for the info on the tires, Alex. It would feel different but I'd definitely go square. Especially if it saves money. Can (or should) I drive on those to the track or would it be better to swap there?

BTW, what pads are you using? I haven't used PFCs yet, as I am addicted to Pagid Yellows. Big bucks though.

Swap there. But you know if you are in Denver and it's forecast to be a really nice day and you've already got a few days in the tire and you don't really want to swap at the track, do it the night before. I drove an old set of those Hankooks from middle of March all the way through to May, rain and all, just to really "cord" them and save my ADO8s 2 months of wear. I drive super conservatively in general on the street anyways.

l'll post another later tonight...

Read my notes on Youtube itself. The first 15 minutes are pretty boring (actually the whole thing is), but I do put in a lot embedded comments in the beginning.

BTW, llis has one posted under OctaneChicks.

Post up your NASA vids too! I couldn't make the NASA event because I was out of town.

Edit: errrrrr, start a new thread with the NASA vids.
