Do you guys think this m3 has frame damage?

What do you guys think?
I am in middle of dealing with the seller, this is the picture of the accident,
it is now fully repaired but I would like to find out if you guys can point out if it had frame damage, Front (engine) and Rear are fine tho. Yes its salvaged title, but fully repaired and has rebuilt title.
I haven't looked in person, but would like to get some feedback before I go.

This was more than a side impact. Look at the roof damage. Only way to really know is get on a rack and have a professional look, but given the impact you could see the same damage at the bottom as the top. It was obviously totalled by insurance company, and who know how good the repairs were, but if it is straight and looks good, and passes inspection and cheap, then do not let the naysayers tell you no.

New quarter (back glass is already out, so that saves some labor money) new hood, (can't see roof or door damage) and new rocker panel.

Overall, this would be a cheap buy for sure. Slap on new parts and repaint that whole side. Very simple job, actually.

Depends if you want a salvage titled car. It will be harder to sell later on.

Pass.

It just might seem like a good ideal now due to the price that you able to afford. But good deals will quickly fade after the "honeymoon" period and you will regret it dearly.

Let it go!

I'd say pass as well, you're not going to want a salvage car. You will sell this car some day (contrary to what you think) and a salvage will be very tough to move.

I'm sure the unibody is still straight.

You have said resale isn't a concern so go for it!

Good luck.

Don't forget another rear left rim. It looks curb checked badly.

Take it to a body shop that you choose and have them look it over carefully. A good body shop should be able to spot any major issues very quickly.

If it passes the test, you can get a good deal on the car and don't plan on selling, you might be able to get a great deal.

I would check with BMW to verify the warranty is still valid because I have a friend with a salvaged/rebuilt titled BMW and the warranty on his car was void because the car was salvaged/rebuilt. So I would suggest you to check with BMW.

Get it. Salvage cars are the best bang for the buck. As long as you know the problems you can run into before hand

Dude you gotta be kidding yourself if you don't think that car had unibody/structural damage. The only way to know for certain is to get that thing on a BMW frame machine (certified BMW collision centers have this, not regular joes auto body).

They have to check the frame alignment to see if it is still within mfg spec. But judging from the pic, I am most certain you DO Have frame damage.

Why? Because my 328i was hit like that, exact same rear quarter at about 20-30 mph. Rear airbags deployed but the glass didn't shatter so your impact was much harder. And my car listed as yes on the frame damage. They had to cut out that rear qtr and pull it out with the hydraulic frame alignment machine. You can go to any auto body and they will probably just buy a new panel and put shims in the frame. That's the wrong way to correct this issue. Good luck

Btw, the C pillar in that photo is a dead giveaway of frame damage. That for sure is part of the frame/unibody. So yes op you do have frame damage and you get what you paid for. Don't expect much from a resale

You asked for opinions but never mentioned the most crucial element: cost.

If the car is $1,000 then anyone here would buy it.
If the car is $55,000 then nobody here would buy it.

This car certainly has a specific value, even with frame damage. But if you want educated opinions you have to lay out all the facts.

Regarding warranty, I've never seen a salvage title car retain the manufacturer's warranty. Better check directly with BMW on that one and get it in writing from them. If they do warranty the car, it will probably be limited and you will have a fight for any replaced part OR any part that may be affected by a replaced part.
